摘要: A current measurement circuit measures a current flowing through a drive transistor when a plurality of measurement voltages are written to a pixel circuit in a switching manner, and a current flowing through an organic EL element when another plurality of measurement voltages are written to the pixel circuit in a switching manner. A correction unit obtains a threshold voltage and a gain of the drive transistor and the organic EL element with respect to each pixel circuit based on a measured current, determines in which operation region the drive transistor operates between a saturation region and a triode region with respect to each pixel circuit based on the video signal, and corrects the video signal in accordance with the operation region of the drive transistor. Since the drive transistor operates both in the saturation region and the triode region, it is possible to reduce a power supply voltage and reduce power consumption of a display device.

摘要: The purpose of the present invention is to suppress the fluctuation of a data line voltage that occurs when an analog voltage signal is sampled and held in a data line in a display device provided with a current-driven display element. Transistors (SWr, SWG, SWb) of each demultiplexer (252) are successively switched on, for each predetermined period, in a selection period of a write control line (SW_LR(i)). In a period when the transistor (SWr) is switched on, an analog video signal (Dj) from a data voltage output unit circuit (211d) is applied to a data line (SLrj) and a pixel circuit (50r). When the transistor SWr is then switched off, the voltage held by the data line (SLrj) decreases below the voltage of the analog video signal (Dj) due to a parasitic capacitance (Cssdr). However, the voltage of a voltage fluctuation compensation line (G3_Cnt (i)) changes from a low level to a high level within the selection period. This causes the voltage of the data line (SLrj) to rise via a capacitor (Ccnt), and the decrease in voltage to be compensated for.

摘要: An object of the present invention is to implement a display device capable of compensating for degradation of circuit elements without causing a grayscale failure. Based on the results of detection of characteristics of drive transistors and organic EL elements, a control circuit (20) finds magnitudes of threshold shifts of the drive transistors and the organic EL elements. A power supply voltage control unit (201) sets a value of a low-level power supply voltage (ELVSS) to a value lower, by a voltage value corresponding to an average value of the magnitudes of the threshold shifts for all pixels, than a value at an initial point in time. Furthermore, the power supply voltage control unit (201) adjusts a value of a high-level power supply voltage (ELVDD), depending on magnitudes of mobilities obtained by detection of characteristics of the drive transistors.

In a display device which includes a pixel circuit including an electro-optic element and a drive transistor, a driving method includes: a first characteristic detection step for detecting a characteristic of the drive transistor; a second characteristic detection step for detecting a characteristic of the electro-optic element; a correction data storage step for storing characteristic data obtained based on detection results in the first and second characteristic detection steps as correction data; and a video signal correction step for correcting the video signal based on the correction data. The second characteristic detection step is performed in a light emission period.

摘要: A pixel circuit 10 includes four TFTs 11 to 14, a capacitor 15, and an organic EL element 16. Between a node A where the TFT 11 and the capacitor 15 are connected and a power supply line VPk, the TFT 14 is provided in place of a capacitor. The gate terminal of the TFT 14 is connected to a control line Ek. The TFT 14 is in an on state in a light emission period of the organic EL element 16. The power supply line VPk and control lines Ek and AZk are connected to the pixel circuits 10 in a plurality of rows. A display device simultaneously performs initialization to the pixel circuits 10 in the plurality of rows, simultaneously performs threshold detection to the pixel circuits 10 in the plurality of rows, sequentially writes data to the pixel circuits 10 row by row, and makes organic EL elements 16 included in the pixel circuits 10 in the plurality of rows emit light in the same period.

In addition, a switch (334) is provided between the data signal line (S(j)) and an internal data line (Sin(j)). In such a configuration, during an AD conversion period during which analog data obtained for characteristic detection is converted into digital data, the switch (334) is brought into an off state and a potential of the data signal line (S(j)) obtained immediately before the AD conversion period is supplied from through a predetermined control line (CL) to the data signal line (S(j)).

摘要: In a pixel circuit, TFTs are connected and driven such that a threshold voltage Vth of a TFT, which is a drive transistor, can be held in a threshold holding capacitor having a capacitance value c1, voltages, including a data potential Vdata representing an image to be displayed, can be held in a data holding capacitor having a capacitance value c2, and charges in the data holding capacitor and the threshold holding capacitor are redistributed at the time of light emission. As a result, a potential obtained by multiplying the data potential Vdata by c1/(c1+c2) is provided to a gate potential of the TFT.

摘要: A scanning line drive circuit includes a shift register having stages, hold circuits, and scanning signal output circuits. The hold circuit holds a shift register output in accordance with a sampling signal which is in an active level in one line period in a video signal period. The scanning signal output circuit outputs a scanning signal to be applied to scanning lines based on the shift register output, a hold output, a period specifying signal indicating whether it is in the video signal period or in a vertical flyback period, and timing signals. The scanning signal output circuit outputs a scanning signal for measurement and writing when the hold output is in a selection level in the vertical flyback period. It is possible to select a scanning line corresponding to the pixel circuits in one row and measure currents or voltages in the vertical flyback period, using a simple circuit.
