摘要: A composite lubricant for recording disk media, a recording disk media including a layer of the composite lubricant, and method of manufacturing the same are described. The composite lubricant may include a non-phosphazene component and a phosphazene component where the non-phosphazene component is a difunctional perfluoropolyether compound terminated with first and second polar end groups, the first polar end group comprising a first number of hydroxyls and the second polar end includes a second number of hydroxyls, greater than the first number of hydroxyls. The phosphazene component may be a difunctional perfluoropolyether compound terminated with a phosphazene functional group and with a third polar end group, the third polar end group comprising a third number of hydroxyls equal to the second number of hydroxyls.

摘要: An air bearing slider is provided for supporting a magnetic transducer and the slider comprises a pair of coplanar side rails disposed on the sides of an air bearing surface of the slider to form a recessed section between the side rails which is open at both the leading and trailing ends of the slider. The side rails have a tapered height section at the leading end and a width that decreases to a break point located between the ends. The air bearing structure produces a combined pressure profile which causes the slider to fly with the leading end at a desired pitch angle relative to a moving magnetic medium, with the minimum spacing between the slider and the magnetic medium at the trailing end, where the magnetic transducer is mounted.

摘要: A disk drive assembly in which the suspension, slider and transducer are integrated and fabricated to produce a combination assembly. The combination transducer-slider-suspension assembly is batch produced by forming a plurality of the combination assemblies onto a single wafer. The wafer is then diced to separate the assemblies into individual sections. The transducers are deposited onto the wafer and the air bearing surface formed. Conductors to interconnect each transducer with the external circuits are insulated from the wafer and deposited along a path which will form the suspension. A spring-like resilient layer is then deposited over and electrically insulated from the conductors. The wafer is then pattern etched to remove a portion of the wafer backside to form the suspension and provide a transducer/slider combination having an air bearing surface after the wafer is diced to separate the individual combination assemblies. The air bearing surface is defined as the slider surface immediately adjacent the media surface during read/write operation of the disk drive assembly whether or not the slider is flying above or in sliding contact with the media surface during operation. Integrated circuit amplifiers can be deposited at the free end of the conductors prior to separation of individual assemblies.

摘要: An air bearing slider for supporting a magnetic transducer comprising a pair of coplanar side rails on the sides of an air bearing surface of the slider and a center rail along the central region of the air bearing surface to form recessed areas between the rails which extend from the leading to the trailing end of the slider. All the rails have a tapered section at their leading ends. The side rails have a width that does not exceed the width of the side rails at the leading end, and the side rails extend only part way to the trailing end of the slider. The width of the center rail is small at the leading end and greatest at the trailing end of the slider, where the transducer is supported.
