    摘要: In a liquid crystal display device of a lateral electric field driving system, coloring problem in display is prevented in all the white, intermediate tone and the black display mode. In this liquid crystal display device: one of an incident side polarizing plate and an exit side polarizing plate has its polarizing axis substantially coincide with the direction of the orientation of a liquid crystal layer; an optical compensating layer is interposed between at least one of transparent substrates and the incident side polarizing plate or the exit side polarizing plate both disposed outside the at least one of the transparent substrates, the optical compensating layer having a refractive index anisotropy with the other polarity other than that in the refractive index of the liquid crystal layer; and, the optical compensating layer has the direction of its anisotropy axis substantially coincide with the direction of the orientation of the liquid crystal layer, provided that the orientation direction includes a predetermined pre-tilt angle.

    摘要: An in-plane switching mode liquid crystal display device includes a substrate, a scanning line formed on the substrate, a data line formed above the substrate to cross the scanning line while interposing an insulation film between the data line and the scanning line, and a transparent common electrode interconnect line located farther the substrate than the scanning line and the data line and having a width longer than those of the scanning line and the data line, and further, formed to geometrically cover the scanning line and the data line. The construction of the device makes it possible to make all electric fields from the data line and the scanning line terminate on the common electrode interconnect line. Forming the common electrode interconnect line with a transparent conductive material maintains the aperture ratio of the device.

    摘要: An in-plane switching mode active matrix type liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate, a second substrate located opposing the first substrate, and a liquid crystal layer sandwiched between the first and second substrates. The first substrate includes a thin film transistor, a pixel electrode each associated to a pixel to be driven, a common electrode to which a reference voltage is applied, data lines, a scanning line, and common electrode lines. Molecular axes of liquid crystal are rotated in a plane parallel with the first substrate by an electric field substantially parallel with a plane of the first substrate to thereby display certain images. The common electrode is composed of transparent material, and are formed on a layer located closer to the liquid crystal layer than the data lines. The common electrode entirely overlaps the data lines except an area where the data lines are located in the vicinity of the scanning line. The liquid crystal display device further includes a light-impermeable layer in an area where the common electrode entirely overlaps the data lines. The light-impermeable layer is comprised of a black matrix layer having a width smaller than a width of the common electrode.

    摘要: An in-plane switching type liquid crystal display device includes (a) a first substrate on which a plurality of gate lines and a plurality of data lines are formed such that the gate lines are substantially perpendicular to the data lines, and on which at least one pixel electrode and at least one common electrode are alternately formed in each of pixels defined by the gate and data lines, (b) a second substrate facing the first substrate, and (c) a liquid crystal layer sandwiched between the first and second substrates, wherein when a voltage is applied across the pixel electrode and the common electrode, liquid crystal existing on extensions of the data lines are caused to rotate in a plane substantially in parallel with the first substrate. Both the pixel electrode and the common electrode have at least one bending point at which the pixel electrode and the common electrode bend, and are designed to bend such that both an intensity and a direction of a field generated by the voltage successively vary.

    摘要: An in-plane switching mode active matrix type liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate, a second substrate located opposing the first substrate, and a liquid crystal layer sandwiched between the first and second substrates. The first substrate includes a thin film transistor, a pixel electrode, a common electrode, a data line, a scanning line, and a common electrode line. The scanning line and the common electrode line are formed in a common layer in parallel with each other. The common electrode overlaps the data line and the scanning line with an interlayer insulating film existing therebetween. The common electrode line is singly formed at either side about the scanning line. The common electrode is electrically connected to the common electrode line through a contact hole formed throughout the interlayer insulating film, and shields a gap formed between the scanning line and the common electrode line.

    摘要: In an in-plane switching (IPS) mode active matrix type liquid crystal display device, data lines 24 supplied with data signals, common electrode wiring portions 26a and 26b applied with a reference voltage, a common electrode 26, pixel electrodes corresponding to pixels to be displayed, scanning lines 28 supplied with scan signals and TFT's 50 are provided on an active element substrate 11. The common electrode wiring portions 26a and 26b are formed by using a first metal layer, extend in parallel to the scanning line and connected to a common electrode potential at a peripheral portion thereof. Protruded portions 299a and 299b are formed in at least one of the common electrode wiring portions 26a and 26b in such a way that the protruded portions are positioned on both sides of the data line 24 to be formed later. Unevenness of display of the display device is reduced and the aperture ratio thereof is improved.
