A novel electron gun for the color picture tube is disclosed, which comprises at least a cathode for emitting three electron beams in alignment and focusing electrodes for focusing the electron beams emitted from the cathode. The forcusing electrodes include first and second focusing electrodes for passing electron beams. The first focusing electrode includes a plurality of perpendicular plate electrodes arranged in such a manner as to sandwich the electron beams along the direction of arrangement thereof after being passed through the passage apertures and rim electrodes surrounding the perpendicular plate electrodes. The second focusing electrode includes a couple of horizontal plate electrodes arranged in such a manner as to hold the electron beams along the direction perpendicular to the direction of arrangement thereof after being passed through passage apertures and extending in opposed relationship with the perpendicular plate electrodes and rim electrodes along tht electron gun axis. The resolution of the peripheral parts of the display surface of the picture tube is thus improved and the assembly of the electron gun thereof is facilitated.

An electron gun for a color picture tube consists of a triode that generates a plurality of electron beams and a main lens which focuses and converges the electron beams. The main lens can be divided into two types, i.e., a pair of bi-potential focusing electron lenses and a combination of the bi-potential focusing electron lens and a uni-potential focusing electron lens. The electrodes constituting the main lens have apertures for permitting the transmission of a plurality of electron beams. The center axes of apertures are deviated toward the center axis of the embodiment of electron gun away from the axes of initial paths of the electron beams emitted from the triode.

When viewed from the light-emitting surface side, the electroluminescent element (10) (i) has at least one continuous light-emitting region, and (ii) the number of contact holes (17) is 102 or more per one light-emitting region and such that the ratio of the area of the contact holes (17) to the area of the light-emitting region is 0.1 or less. Thus, it is possible to provide an electroluminescent element, etc., that is easily manufactured and has high light emission uniformity.

Micro-bubble generators attached to a ship hull below the waterline decrease frictional resistance during navigation and improve fuel efficiency. Each micro-bubble generator is supplied with air and has a wing positioned outside the hull for generating negative pressure. The negative pressure created by the wing increases with an increase in ship's speed, which pushes the air-liquid interface outwardly toward the wing. As the air and the water move at different speeds due to difference in their densities, micro-bubbles are generated in the micro-bubble generator according to the Kelvin-Helmholtz Instability mechanism and discharged downstream to move closely along the outside surface of the hull.

In a liquid crystal display device having a backlight which radiates light to a liquid crystal panel, LEDs are mounted on the light guide plate formed on the backlight as a light emitting element, and an S-shaped inclined portion whose thickness is not changed is formed on the light guide plate from a light incident surface to a light emitting surface of the light guide plate. Since the thickness of the inclined portion is not changed, it is possible to make the pressure of resin flow at the time of performing injection molding uniform thus manufacturing the light guide plate with high accuracy.
