Polyolefin polymers can successfully be stabilized against the detrimental effects of UV-radiations by compounding them with a stabilizer belonging to the class of compounds containing a pyrrolidine ring and which are sterically hindered in the 3-position and also substituted in such position by substituents having a high molecular weight. The esters of the 2,2,5,5-tetraalkyl-4-methyl-3-methylol pyrrolidine are exemplary compounds; the adipic and the stearic esters are preferred.

For stabilizing polyolefin polymers such as polyethylene and polypropylene against the detrimental effects of exposure to UV-radiations and weathering agents, a stabilizing additive is disclosed which consist of a fatty acid ester of the N-(beta-hydroxyethyl)-2,2,3,4,5,5-hexamethylpyrrolidine. The lauric and palmitic acid esters are preferred.

The present invention relates to a thermoplastic composition comprising at least aluminium hypophosphite (aluminium phosphinate), corresponding to the chemical formula Al(H2PO2)3 as halogen-free flame retardant agent, and at least a polymer based on polyamide. The flame retarded halogen-free thermoplastic moulding compositions according to the invention is used to produce articles based on polyamide polymers with or without glass fiber reinforcement, which are flame retarded.

Stabilizing inorganic fillers or pigments having simultaneous reinforcing effect and stabilizing effect on organic polymers are obtained by a process comprising the following stages:(a) bringing the inorganic filler or pigment into contact with a solution, in an inert organic solvent, of a sterically hindered amine comprising one or more alkoxysilane groups in its molecule;(b) maintaining the obtained mixture at higher than ambient temperature (20.degree.-25.degree. C.) for a period of at least 0.5 hours;(c) removing the solvent, treating at a temperature of 120.degree.-200.degree. C. and recovering the stabilizing filler or pigment obtained.

The total of the percentages by weight of components A to D is 100%.
