Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods are described for hot spot mitigation of a photovoltaic (PV) module. In some examples, control circuitry may be configured to operate in a first mode of operation wherein an operating point of the PV module is set based on a maximum power point tracking algorithm, and a second mode of operation wherein the operating point of the PV module is set based on a hot spot mitigation algorithm to produce a reduced power output and prevent over-heating of the PV module. The operating point may be set based on an inflection point in the I-V curve of the PV module. The operating point may be set based on zero crossings in the second-order derivative of the I-V curve of the PV module. A filter window with one or more filter thresholds may be used in order to determine the zero crossings and set the operating point.

Abstract: An apparatus for a system power device utilized in an interconnected power system. The interconnected power system may include multiple system power devices connected to various inter connections of groups of direct currents (DC) from power sources which also may be connected in various series, parallel, series parallel and parallel series combinations for example. The apparatus may include a processor connected to a memory and a communication interface operatively attached to the processor. The communication interface may be adapted to connect to a mobile computing system of a user in close proximity to the system power devices. A graphical user interface (GUI) of the mobile computing system may allow various operational and re-configuration options for the interconnected power system which may include installation, maintenance and monitoring schedules in the interconnected power system when the user of the GUI is in close proximity to the system power devices.

Certain embodiments relate to methods and apparatuses for providing operational power to safety switches during different modes of system operation.
