    The display apparatus of the present technology includes a display unit that is configured to display an image and that includes display modules combined, the display modules each including multiple light source substrates, and a screen vibration sound output unit configured to vibrate the light source substrates or the display modules from a back side by a vibrator, thereby allowing the display unit to output sound. The vibrator includes a piezoelectric actuator. The present technology can be applied to display apparatuses including large screen display units such as LED displays, for example.

The signal processing section calculates a correction value for suppressing an amount of light emitted by the panel section on the basis of the sound signal and controls a level of the video image signal on the basis of the calculated correction value. The present technology is applicable, for example, to a television receiver.
