摘要: A dispenser (10) for a detergent (13) is disclosed. A housing (10) defining an inner cavity (12) holds the detergent (13). The cavity (12) has a circular opening. An insert (14) of a substance not chemically compatible with the detergent (13) is retained in the opening of the inner cavity (12). The insert (14) is retained by retaining ring (20) and a cover (26). In a preferred embodiment, the retaining ring (20) defines an inner aperture (21a) and has a plurality of generally upwardly extending resilient fingers (24) cooperatively connected to the retaining ring (20) proximate the inner aperture (21b). A cover (26) is cooperatively connected to and secured by the fingers (24), wherein said insert (14) is placed over said fingers (24) and said cover (26) over said insert (14), whereby said fingers (24) and said cover (26) control the dissolving of the insert (14 ) by controlling the surface area of the insert (14) exposed to the detergent solution. A spray forming nozzle (15) is mounted to and extends into the cavity (12) through the opening for directing a pressurized spray of liquid at the detergent. The hydraulic action of the nozzle directed spray (16) dissolves a portion of the detergent (13), forming a detergent solution which passes by gravity over the insert (14) and dissolves a portion of the insert (14), and the detergent solution and dissolved insert are discharged through the opening.

摘要: A radio signal relay device such as satellite is used to cover several relatively small geographical regions with relatively narrow beams as well as a relatively large geographical region with a single beam. This relatively wide beam permits legacy equipment to be used. A transmitting device in a beam transmits a signal to the relay device, which in turn retransmits the signal to a receiving device. The transmitting devices, relay device, and receiving devices synchronize communication by using a particular mode of communication which includes a band of carrier frequencies and a protocol. In addition to communicating like mode signals from a transmitter to a receiver, the relay device may be used in a dual mode communication system to translate signals from the one mode to another. A translator may direct a transmitter to modulate a signal on a different carrier frequency, convert one protocol into another protocol, or both.

摘要: In a computer system having memory in a processor and a plurality of attached heterogeneous disk storage subsystems, a system and method for managing the storage subsystems is provided. A volume of data is copied from a first disk storage subsystem from a first vendor to a second disk storage subsystem from a second vendor, of equal or greater capacity than the first disk storage subsystem, without requiring specialized hardware. An application program is able to access the data on the first disk storage subsystem while the data is being copied. The volume of data on the second disk storage subsystem is identified, within the computer system, as the volume of data on the first disk storage subsystem after the data is copied.

摘要: A method of coating an adhesive polymer comprising hot-melt coating a composition of a hydrophobic adhesive polymer and a transient polar processing aid onto a substrate is provided. In addition, a method of coating a hydrophobic adhesive polymer when contacted with a transient polar processing aid, and a hot-melt coatable adhesive composition are also provided. These methods provide clear, smooth, and foam-free coatings, that are also substantially free of high temperature, low temperature, and processing aid-induced coating defects.

摘要: Provided is a method, system, and program for managing Input/Output (I/O) requests generated by an application program. The I/O requests are transmitted to an output device. A determination is made of a priority associated with the I/O request, wherein the priority is capable of being at least one of a first priority and a second priority. The I/O request is transmitted if the determined priority is the first priority. Transmittal of the I/O request is deferred if the determined priority is the second priority.

摘要: A container and dispenser of coins for toll booths comprising an enclosed rectangular box preferably made of resilient plastic having a left half and right half, wherein a plurality of pockets in the left half open to the top and extend to a floor at the bottom of the left half, and wherein a plurality of pockets in the right half open to the bottom and extend to a floor at the top of the right half. The pockets are formed by spaced apart walls leaving enough room in each pocket to provide the exact change for a specified series of toll booths. A slidable cover is provided on the top and bottom of the container to initially close all of the pockets. When the cover slides far enough to fully uncover one pocket, a stop member on the underside of the cover drops into a notch of a guide rail which tends to resist further sliding toward the fully open position and provides a distinctive "click" sound indicating to the user that one pocket has been fully uncovered for dispensing the exact amount of coins for a respective toll booth from such position. Each notch is spaced apart a distance needed to fully open the next adjacent pocket but not so far that coins in the second adjacent pocket fall out.

摘要: Apparatus for clipping excessive voltage transients in an alternating current power distribution system to protect the electrical system and attached electrical equipment from damage or failure due to said excessive high voltage transients and surges. Varistors are connected from each electrical phase to grounded conductor, referred to as neutral hereafter and also from neutral to ground to provide an additional fail-safe feature. This electrical circuit is contained within a cylindrically shaped hollow enclosure made of a high impact, polypropolene plastic. A plastic potting compound seals all the voids within the enclosure for additional electrical insulation. One end of the cylindrical enclosure terminates in a cap using rounded threads made of the same material as the cylinder which provides access for the circuit. The rounded threads provide protection against overtightening the cap. The opposite end has a threaded extension which mates with a standard electrical knockout and electrical lock nut for mounting. The cylinder, adjacent the body of the extension, is concave to enclose an O-ring or gasket to assist in sealing when mounted on an electrical junction or switchbox.

摘要: A packaging machine of the type for receiving a one-piece corrugated board blank having a product or lading positioned thereon to be drawn into the machine and folded around the lading to form a completed carton which is discharged into a compression section of the machine. A plurality of vertically arranged rollers are disposed on opposite sides of the compression section to engage the side walls of the cartons while they are present in and move through the compression section. Each roller is provided with a cylindrical body over which is fitted a soft, compressible elastic sleeve of yieldable material preferably formed of foam rubber or synthetic plastic. The yieldable sleeve enables deformation thereof as a carton is pressed against each roller in the compression section to achieve a planar surface-to-surface interface or contact between each roller and the respective carton side walls as distinguished from a line-to-line surface interface where a roller is not formed of a yieldable material. Pressure is applied against the side walls of each carton as it passes through the compression section engaged against the rollers so as to hold the side wall flaps of the cartons in place while adhesive applied between the flaps and the carton walls dries and sets.In another embodiment, a protective cover of polyethylene film is mounted over the circumference of the sleeve for additional advantages without interfering with the normal operating advantages thereof.
