    Abstract: A method and system for controlling air-interface resource utilization in a wireless communication system in which an access node provides service on a carrier defining air-interface resources. An example method includes monitoring a rate of voice muting on the carrier, detecting when the monitored rate of voice muting on the carrier is at least predefined threshold high, and responsive to detecting that the monitored rate of voice muting on the carrier is at least predefined threshold high, starting to apply a maximum limit on how many user equipment devices (UEs) the access node will concurrently serve with a resource-intensive service on the carrier.

    Abstract: A mechanism to control transmission by a base station, which may help to control interference on an adjacent frequency. The base station is configured to operate on a first frequency and is equipped with a number of antennas enabled for transmission on the first frequency. Upon detecting of a trigger for reducing potential interference on the adjacent frequency, the base station reduces the number of its antennas that are enabled for transmission on the first carrier, which may reduce the overall energy of the base station's transmission and may thereby reduce interference on the adjacent frequency. In an example implementation, the base station could disable a proper subset of its antennas from use for transmission on the first frequency, while leaving a remainder of its antennas enabled for transmission on the first frequency.

    Abstract: A method and corresponding system for controlling whether a UE is served by a relay base station, based on consideration of the maximum-supported MCS of the relay base station's associated UE-relay. The method could apply where the UE is already served by the relay base station, in which case the question could be whether the UE continues being served by the relay base station or rather hands over to another base station. Or the method could apply where the UE is not yet being served by the relay base station, in which case the question could be whether the UE should initially attach with or hand over to the relay base station. Further, the method could be carried out by the UE and/or by a base station or other network entity.

    Abstract: A method and system for controlling application of MU-MIMO. The disclosure provides for considering the quantity of data buffered for transmission over the air between the base station and each of various UEs, and selecting UEs to be subject to MU-MIMO service based on the quantity of data buffered. For example, a base station could prefer application of MU-MIMO for UEs that have more data buffered for transmission than other UEs. Or the base station could condition application of MU-MIMO to a pair of UEs on a determination that each UE of the pair has at least a threshold quantity of data buffered for transmission.
