    摘要: A method and system accessible over a computer network, such as the Internet, by which clients can access and reserve an appointment date and time with a particular service provider is disclosed. The method enables the client to search for the particular service provider from a database of available service providers using a plurality of desired criteria, such as location and type of service provided by the particular service provider. The client can either request a proposed appointment date and time from all available dates and times or select from a list of available dates and times associated with the particular service provider. If the proposed dates and times are not available, alternate proposed dates and times are suggested, or the client can request a new proposed appointment date and time on his own. If available, the proposed date and time is confirmed once the client provides identifying information about himself. The confirmed appointment date and time can be cancelled by either the client or the particular service provider.

Each parallel operation set is then provided to a master computing thread for processing, together with its associated process data. Each master computing thread will then provide its operation set to one or more slave computers based upon parallelism in the process data associated with its operation set. In this manner, the execution of operations by a software application is widely distributed among multiple networked computers based upon parallelism in both the process data used by the software and the operations executed by the software application.

    摘要: A novel improved enhanced cardiac surgical method yields unexpected results by having an enhanced intraluminally emplaced cooling system. In preferred device embodiments improvements include a first means for draining venous blood from at least one of the right atrium, superior vena cava and inferior vena cava and an improved means for cooling involved luminal surfaces. Tissue insult and injury is substantially mitigated by engagement of the cooling means with select aspects of involved atrial tissue to augment transfer of heat. In one embodiment of the invention, the right atrium is cooled while the patient's body is maintained at a normothermic temperature during surgery. The alternate cooling mechanisms disclosed have applicability both on- and off-pump in a variety of procedures ranging from traditional open cardiac surgical repair and by-pass to endovascular procedures using percutaneous access and minimally invasive therapies.

    摘要: A method of dealing with the electrode polarization error when analyzing a dielectric test medium is achieved by firstly applying an excitation current to the test medium at a test frequency, by means of a first electric couple (23, 24) comprising excitation electrodes (23, 24). Next the voltage across the excitation electrode couple (23, 24) is measured and the voltage across a second couple of electrodes (25, 26) is also measured. The measured voltages across the first and second electrode couples are compared in order to derive a polarization correction factor which is used to provide a corrective value for the capacitance, or conductivity measurement. The method is suitable for use in industrial on-line applications.
