    摘要： A cutting tool assembly having a tool holder and a cutting tool. The cutting tool has a shank that is matingly received within an axial bore in the lower end of the tool holder. The shank includes an eccentrically-shaped driver portion. The tool holder's axial bore includes an enlarged eccentrically-shaped drive opening which is complementary in shape to, but slightly larger than, the driver portion. When the shank is inserted into the axial bore, the driver portion and drive opening are aligned allowing the cutting tool to be partially rotated relative to the tool holder. This partial rotation abuts a portion of the eccentric driver portion against the drive opening wall to provide rigid support of the cutting tool against further rotation as the tool assembly cuts. A cammed fastener releasably interlocks the partially rotated cutting tool within the tool holder.

Each insert is mounted on the head such that it can be indexed to reposition a plurality of cutting edges on the insert. The head has a shank rotatably mounted in a body supported on a machine, such as a lathe. A handle connected to the shank is used to replace an insert in a cutting position with another insert merely by rotating the head and without repositioning the body.

    摘要： A ball nosed milling tool that includes a cutter plate having circular segmental cutting edges formed by chord-oriented shoulders inset into opposite faces of the plate. The shoulders form cutting faces that are acutely angled to the midplane of the plate, such that chips are directed away from the rotational axis of the cutter plate. The cutter plate is clamped within a slot in a supporting spindle by means of a threaded fastener that extends transversely through the plate and the spindle. A cylindrical shank portion of the fastener is oriented to exert a cam action on the surface of a hole in the cutter plate, such that the plate is firmly seated in the spindle slot.
