摘要： A cellular communications system is described in which a mobile cellular device can, if necessary, obtain cell measurements for cells contained within a first cell list after it has received a second cell list. The mobile device then reports the cell measurements for cells within both lists so that a best candidate cell is less likely to be discarded in a cell handover procedure. A network node is also disclosed that can receive cell measurements for cells within a first cell list after the node has issued a second cell list. The node then uses the received cell measurement data to control a handover procedure.

摘要： A cellular communications system is described in which a mobile cellular device is configured to return status data to the network when instructed to obtain cell measurements. When used, the status data may indicate that measurements are in hand and that further measurement reports may or will follow. The status data may also indicate if the reporting interval and/or the measurement gaps defined by the network are suitable to make the measurements given the current status of the mobile device. A network node is also disclosed that can receive the measurement reports and interpret the status data to decide to wait for further measurement results or to issue a new reporting interval or a new cell list or arrange a new configuration of idle gaps in which cell measurements may be made.

摘要： The present invention provides a method of PLMN selection subsequent to a change in cell for a mobile radio communications device in a multi-network cellular environment, the method including the steps of monitoring system information within a mobile radio communications device to determine the availability of a HPLMN or any other higher priority PLMN than current registered PLMN, and selecting the said HPLMN or higher priority PLMN than current registered PLMN if identified as available, and also a related network-sharing-capable UE that, when registered with a visitor PLMN, can readily check the availability of its HPLMN or any other higher priority PLMN in the system information whenever it moves to a new location area and, assuming the HPLMN or higher priority PLMN to be found, can then reselect to that PLMN.
