    摘要: A chain guide structure having, in combination, a chain cover and a chain guide member which can easily and securely be placed on the chain cover for temporary assembling, and capable of improving the efficiency of the assembling work. A chain guide structure for guiding a chain wound round a driving sprocket supported on the sidewall of a crankcase and covered with a cover attached to the sidewall includes an elastic chain guide member having a substantially semicircular shape opening toward the rear and supported on the inner surface of the cover so as to extend along the chain. At least two ribs are formed on the inner surface of the cover so as to hold the chain guide member by elastically deforming the chain guide member so that the width of the open end of the chain guide member is changed.

    摘要: The inside of a crankcase for a four-cycle engine is divided by a bulkhead into a crank chamber and a transmission chamber. A crankshaft and a balancer shaft for suppressing engine vibrations by rotating in accompaniment with rotations of the crankshaft are rotatably attached within the crankshaft, and the balancer shaft is driven by the crankshaft via a gear set housed within the crank chamber. Meshing parts of a gear set can be sufficiently lubricated by oil mist without a special lubricating structure being required. Furthermore, the engine can be decreased in size without forming a sealed space for lubricating the gear set.

    摘要: A lubrication system for an engine includes an oil discharge port in a lower section of a crankcase. A crankshaft, with a crank web attached thereto, rotates in a rotation direction within the crankcase. A first distance is formed between the crank web and a first inner surface of the crankcase, downstream of the oil discharge port. A second distance is formed between the crank web and a second inner surface of the crankcase, upstream of the oil discharge port. The first distance is less than the second distance. Also, the oil discharge port is defined in part by a back edge, which is wedge shaped and points in a direction opposite the rotation direction of the crankshaft. The back edge scoops oil from the crank web and into the oil discharge port.
