摘要： An apparatus and method for processing a vertical handoff between a WLAN and a broadband wireless communication network are provided. In a method of processing a vertical handoff in a handoff processor having a mapping table in which QoS information for the broadband wireless communication network is mapped to QoS information for the WLAN, QoS information about an STA received from a source network is converted to QoS information suitable for a target network, referring to the mapping table. A message containing the converted QoS information is generated and sent to the target network.

摘要： An apparatus and method for determining a vertical handoff for a node supporting a WLAN and an IEEE 802.16 communication system are provided. Reception of a handoff request message from the node is monitored, an expected change in the total throughput of the WLAN in the case where the node is connected to the WLAN is calculated and compared with zero, and if the throughput change is equal to or greater than zero, the handoff request of the node is acknowledged and the node is handed off to the WLAN.

摘要： A CID management method and apparatus in a multi-hop relay BWA communication system are provided. A BS combines data destined for an RS and data to be relayed to an MS via the RS in a payload, distinguishing the data by CIDs, attaches a relay CID to the payload, and sends the payload with the relay CID to the RS. Among the data of the payload, the RS processes its data and relays to the MS the data destined for the MS by distinguishing them by the CIDs.

The RS receives an upstream bandwidth request message including an upstream bandwidth from at least one MS for a predetermined time period, detects the requested upstream bandwidth from the upstream bandwidth request message, calculates a total requested upstream bandwidth by summing the requested upstream bandwidth from the at least one MS, generates a new upstream bandwidth request message including the total requested upstream bandwidth, and sends the new upstream bandwidth request message to a BS.

摘要： An apparatus and method are provided for transmitting a signal in a communication system using a low density parity check (LDPC) code. An LDPC codeword is generated by encoding an information word at a coding rate. A puncturing pattern is generated when a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) scheme to be applied to the LDPC codeword is an incremental redundancy (IR) scheme. An additional pattern is generated when the HARQ scheme to be applied to the LDPC codeword is a partial chase combining (CC) scheme. A signal is transmitted by applying the puncturing pattern to the LDPC codeword at an associated coding rate when the HARQ scheme to be used is the IR scheme. A signal is transmitted by applying the additional pattern to the LDPC codeword at an associated coding rate when the HARQ scheme to be used is the partial CC scheme.
