Abstract: Heavy hydrocarbon oils are desulfurized at high temperature and high space velocity in the presence of a catalyst comprising a Group VIII metal and a Group VI metal or their compounds and also containing as an agent for reducing the deactivation rate of the catalyst, a small amount of a Group VII metal or compound thereof.
