Abstract:
A method and system for dynamic power allocation in a transport refrigeration system (TRS) is provided. The method includes a TRS power source operating in an operational state. The method also includes monitoring an amount of current being drawn from one or more generator powered components of the TRS. Also, the method includes calculating, via a TRS controller of the TRS, a maximum available horsepower amount based on the amount of current being drawn from the one or more generator powered components. Further, the method includes controlling, via the TRS controller, an amount of horsepower directed to a compressor of the TRS based on the maximum available horsepower amount.
Abstract:
A mobile environment-controlled unit, such as an over-the-road compartment trailer, having an environmental-control system, such as a refrigeration unit, powered by an alternator and having a high-voltage alternating current (AC) bus. The unit incorporates a high resistance ground scheme and can incorporate a solid-state input module to detect phase-chassis faults. This combination provides an improvement in protection for mobile applications that cannot have a voltage reference (or neutral point) solidly connected to earth ground.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for feedback-based load control of a climate control system while in transport are provided. The method can include monitoring a current demand from each of a plurality of DC components of the climate control system. The method can also include determining whether the current demand for two or more of the plurality of DC components is in a discontinuous DC format. Also, the method can include, when two or more of the plurality of DC components is in the discontinuous DC format, determining a synchronization pattern for supplying power to the two or more of the plurality of DC components. Further, the method can include a DC power source of the climate control system directing power to the two or more of the plurality of DC components in the discontinuous DC format based on the synchronization pattern.

Abstract:
A method of pairing a sensor node of a transport refrigeration system with a coordinator node using an assisting device in a communication network is provided, the method includes: the assisting device obtains identification information of the sensor node; the assisting device connects with the coordinator node; the assisting device transmits the identification information of the sensor node to the coordinator node for the coordinator node to pair with the sensor node; the assisting device receives pairing status of the sensor node and the coordinator node; and the assisting device indicates the pairing status.
Abstract:
A system and method for configuring a transport refrigeration unit (TRU) battery charger in a transport refrigeration system (TRS) is provided. The method includes receiving battery topology data indicating a battery topology of a TRU battery equipped in the TRS. The method also includes determining specific parameters for configuring a battery charging algorithm based on the battery topology data. Also, the method includes the TRU battery charger configuring the battery charging algorithm based on the specific parameters.

A method for detecting and managing an electrical phase loss condition in a climate controlled transport unit (CCTU) is provided. The method includes monitoring a generator phase signal outputted from a generator of the CCTU. The method also includes calculating, via a CCTU controller, a phase shift amount based on the generator phase signal. Also, the method includes detecting an electrical phase loss condition based on the phase shift amount.
Abstract:
A transport refrigeration unit (TRU) battery charging system includes a programmable transport refrigeration system (TRS) Controller, a TRU battery and a programmable battery charger (BC) programmed to transfer electrical current to the TRU battery via a predetermined current path through the programmable TRS Controller in response to a value of offset current drawn from the TRU battery by the programmable TRS Controller and subsequently communicated to the programmable BC by the programmable TRS Controller. The programmable TRU battery charger allows for a dynamic load characterization of the programmable IRS Controller and accessory loads based on programmable TRU battery charger internal shunt current measurements and programmable TRS Controller internal shunt current measurements to allow the programmable TRU battery charger to function properly with all intended modes of operation.
