Abstract:
The invention relates to ion sources having two ionization chambers and more particularly to chemical and heat resistant crucibles for use with said sources. The crucible in accordance with the invention is a hollow box of pyrolytic tungsten having two opposite openings in its lateral wall. The crucible is manufactured from a pyrolytic tungsten deposite made on a copper mandrel which is dissolved in an etching bath.
Abstract:
A thermoelectric converter diode in which the thermal energy required for the heating of the ionisable fluid which fills the space between the emitter and the collector is taken from the collector by conduction and from the emitter by radiation. To this end the ionizable substance is stored in a block having a large surface-to-volume ratio, which block is supported by the collector within the diode.
Abstract:
Self - regulating reservoir for ionizable material, incorporated in a thermoionic converter, having a two-stage structure, one stage masking the other, in which the masked section, of large capacity but poor regulating ability, constantly feeds the masking section, of small capacity, but good regulating ability.
