Abstract: The invention relates to a hydrocarbon conversion catalyst and process for making same. The catalyst comprises a refractory oxide as a carrier, between about 0.01 and 6% by weight of a Group VIII metal, between about 0.01 and 6% by weight of cadmium, between about 0.01 and 6%, by weight of tin and between about 0.1 and 5% by weight of a halogen (each per cent being based on the total catalyst). The catalyst has particular applicability to reforming processes.
