摘要: A display device according to one embodiment is a display device in which a first folding area, a first non-folding area on one side of the first folding area, and a second non-folding area on the other side of the first folding area are defined, and comprises a first substrate, a second substrate disposed on the first substrate, a liquid crystal layer disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate, and an upper polarization member disposed on one surface of the second substrate and spaced apart from the liquid crystal layer with the second substrate interposed therebetween, wherein the second substrate has a first thickness, which is partially slimmed, in the first folding area, the second substrate has a second thickness, which is greater than the first thickness and corresponds to an original thickness of a flat display element without being slimmed, in each of the non-folding areas, the upper polarization member is disposed over the first non-folding area, the folding area and the second non-folding area, a first gap distance between one surface of the second substrate and the upper polarization member in the first folding area is greater than a second gap distance between one surface of the second substrate and the upper polarization member in each of the non-folding areas.

摘要: A method of manufacturing a curved display panel, includes: polishing a portion of the flat display panel that is to form a protrusion, which protrudes in order to protect a portion, to which a drive circuit board is attached, through mechanical polishing so as to have a preset thickness; installing a sealing member, which protects the flat display panel, polished in the polishing, from an etchant by surrounding both the portion that is to form the protrusion and the drive circuit board; and etching an entirety of both surfaces of the flat display panel using the etchant, excluding a portion on which the sealing member is provided, so that the flat display panel, having the sealing member installed in the installing, has a thickness smaller than a thickness of the protrusion.

摘要: A method of manufacturing a curved display panel by reducing a thickness of a flat display panel comprising a first substrate and a second substrate, the method includes: polishing a portion that is to form a protrusion on an edge of at least one of the first substrate and the second substrate to a preset thickness through mechanical polishing; masking the portion that is to form the protrusion, polished to the preset thickness in the polishing, using a masking member so as to prevent the portion from being etched by an etchant; and etching the display panel to a preset thickness by the etchant so as to be thinner than the portion masked by the masking member to make the protrusion protrude therefrom.
