摘要: A chute for an optical sorting machine allows objects to be sorted to drop under gravity from the lower end of the chute, thereby supplying the objects to an optical detection section. The chute is provided with: a first portion which includes a portion for receiving the objects to be sorted which are supplied from a supply section; and a second portion which continues from the first portion. The first portion is composed of a single part and has: flat surfaces along which the objects to be sorted flow down; and connection surfaces. The flat surfaces located upstream are bent downward and the connection surfaces located downstream are bent upward to form a smooth undulation in the surface along which the objects to be sorted flow down.

摘要: A storage has a first cache area temporarily storing one page data read from a flash memory, and a second cache area to which data of the first cache area is transferred. A controller stores data of the first cache area in the second cache area, and reads and outputs the data stored in the second cache area when data having the same address as data read from the first cache area is read.

摘要: A method for controlling a memory card which includes a nonvolatile semiconductor memory whose memory area includes a plurality of write areas is disclosed. A first area which is a part of the plurality of write areas is set in accordance with management executed by a first file system. The first file system sequentially writes data along a direction in which addresses of the plurality of write areas increase. A second area which is a part of the plurality of write areas is set in accordance with management executed by a second file system. The second file system writes data in an order which does not depend on the addresses.

摘要: An optical cracked-grain selector that does not mistakenly identify normal grains of rice having no cracks as cracked grains due to the presence of the embryonic portion and/or surface scratches when optically identifying cracked grains of rice mixed in with material rice grains. An identification part in a cracked grain identification unit obtains a first rice grain image (having an embryonic portion and scratches) based on light passed through the rice grain that is received by a first CCD sensor built into a CCD camera of a photoreaction detection unit and a second rice grain image (having cracks, an embryo portion and scratches) based on light passed through the rice grain received by a second CCD sensor built into the CCD camera, acquires an image of the cracks by calculating a difference in the amount of light between the two rice grain images, and identifies a cracked grain.

摘要: An information processing apparatus includes a card slot into which a nonvolatile memory card is inserted, and a device driver software having a function which accesses the nonvolatile memory card inserted into the card slot. Upon determining that the nonvolatile memory card needs to be initialized, the device driver software initializes the nonvolatile memory card and generates state information indicating that the nonvolatile memory card has been newly inserted.

摘要: A switch is provided on a device main body. When the switch is switched to a permission state, authentication by a specific identification code (PIN code) is permitted. When the switch is switched to an inhibition state, the authentication by the specific identification code is inhibited. When the switch is normally set in the inhibition state, any access from an illicit user using the specific identification code can be prevented. Additionally, when a predetermined time has elapsed after the switch is set in the permission state, the authentication by the specific identification code is inhibited. With this arrangement, even when the user forgets to return the switch that has been set in the permission state to the inhibition state, any illicit access can be prevented, and the security for the device can be ensured.
