The host system has: a display unit for displaying the content of a first directory in the first volume and the content of a corresponding second directory in the second volume; and a switching unit for switching, on the display unit, between the display showing the content of the first directory and the display showing the content of the second directory. The storage apparatus further has: a searching unit for searching for the second directory based on a table having a migration path from a root directory to the first directory in the first volume stored therein; and a transmitting unit for transmitting the content of the second directory, which is searched for by the searching unit, to the host system.

In a storage network system, a Frame relay device contains a cache memory for storing read data read from a storage device. The storage apparatus, when receiving a read request from a host machine, carries out processing of sending the data to the Frame relay device with addition of instructions for storing the data therein and when the read request is made to the same data again, processing of instructing the Frame relay device to send the data to a specified host machine. The Frame relay device carries out processing of sending the data stored in itself to the specified host machine.
