    摘要: A scanning optical system includes a polygonal mirror that deflects the even number of beams, which are incident thereon along optical paths arranged symmetrically with respect to a plane perpendicular to a rotation axis thereof. An imaging optical system for converging the beams includes lenses for converging the beam, in an auxiliary scanning direction, respectively. The lenses have the same shapes, and are arranged symmetrically with respect to the plane. The orientation of the lenses on one side of the plane is oriented oppositely, in the auxiliary scanning direction, to the other lenses located on the other side of the plane.

    摘要: A phase shift element having a central area (for transmitting part of an incident laser beam in the vicinity of the beam central axis) and a first area (giving the laser beam incident thereon a phase difference π relative to a beam passing through the central area) is placed on an optical path between a laser light source and a polygon mirror of a scanning optical system. The scanning optical system including such a phase shift element is installed in a printer. By the effect of the phase shift element, the intensity of side lobes (several rings of light accompanying the main beam) is prevented from exceeding a threshold value even when optical surfaces of an imaging optical system of the scanning optical system have certain microscopic undulations, by which black stripes occurring in halftone printing can be eliminated.

    摘要: The optical system of the microscope includes a close-up optical system that faces an object, a pair of imaging optical systems that take object light rays passing through regions of the close-up optical system, and an illuminating optical system that guides illumination light emitted from a light source to illuminate the object. Each lens included in the close-up optical system has a semicircular shape in which one side is cut out. The close-up optical system is held in a first lens barrel, and the illuminating optical system is held in a second lens barrel. The second lens barrel is arranged in the cutout space of the close-up optical system inside the first lens barrel. A light shielding member is attached to the second lens barrel to prevent a leak of the illumination light through grooves formed on the second lens barrel.

    摘要: There is provided an optical disc drive for recordation/reproduction for three types of optical discs by selectively using one of three types of light beams. The optical disc drive comprises an objective lens. The objective lens has a step structure which gives an optical path length difference to an incident beam at each step. When the third laser beam passes through the objective lens, the objective lens produces normal diffraction order light converging to a recording surface of the third optical disc and undesired diffraction order light converging to a point deviating from the recording surface of the third optical disc. A distance from a point to which the normal diffraction order light converges to a point to which the undesired diffraction order light converges is larger than or equal to twice a pull-in range of a focus error signal obtained when the third optical disc is used.
