摘要： A tag information separating unit separates a tag identified from a character train stream and outputs as tag information. A tag code replacing unit arranges a tag code for identification to a position of the character train stream in which the tag was separated. A character train coding unit compression encodes the character train stream including a tag code which is outputted from the tag code replacing unit. A data reconstructing apparatus reconstructs the character train stream by the operation opposite to the compression.

摘要： A data compressing/decompressing apparatus is suitable for compressing data containing plural-byte characters, for instance, a Japanese language text. The data compressing/decompressing apparatus owns a homonym dictionary in which KANJI-character idioms, KANJI-character-reading, and homonym discrimination information are stored in correspondence with each other. This data compressing/decompressing apparatus converts a KANJI-character idiom contained in declarative sentence data into phonetic data, and further compresses this phonetic data to output the compressed phonetic data. The phonetic data is such data that this KANJI-character idiom is replaced by information constituted by character number discrimination information indicative of the character number about KANJI-character idiom reading, the reading thereof, and the homonym discrimination information thereof.

The apparatus, which obtains information needed for user verification from partial images that are successively captured by a sweep-type fingerprint sensor from a fingertip, includes image obtaining means which captures successive partial images of biometric information; characteristic extracting means which obtains, from the captured partial images, characteristics and positions of the characteristics; detecting means which detects relative position information of partial images based on characteristics contained in a region in which the partial images overlap; and correcting means which calculates the amount of distortion of the characteristics based on the detected relative position information and on the positions of the characteristics in each partial image, and which corrects the positions of the characteristics in each individual partial image based on the calculated distortion amount.

摘要： In an image and code data compression apparatus for compressing the image data and further compressing the code data which are compressed from the image data, the apparatus includes: a dividing unit for receiving the image data and dividing them into a plurality of image data blocks; a transformation unit operatively connected to the dividing unit for performing an orthogonal transformation to the image data block and calculating transformation coefficients for every frequency component; a quantizing unit operatively connected to the transformation unit for quantizing the transformation coefficients which are calculated by the transformation unit by using a quantized threshold value which is set commonly to all image data, and calculating the quantized orthogonal transformation coefficients; a coding unit operatively connected to the quantizing unit for performing the variable length coding process for the quantized transformation coefficients which are calculated by the quantizing unit and outputting the code data which are compressed from the image data; a detecting unit operatively connected to at least one of above units for detecting the complexity of the image data block; and a deleting unit operatively connected to at least one of above units and the detecting unit for deleting the block image data having high complexity detected by the detecting unit.
