摘要： A tool for an optical connector including a clamping portion for clamping an optical fiber between clamping elements, the tool including: first and second insertion members, respectively including separately extractable first and second distal ends, wherein the first and second distal ends maintain the clamping elements in an open state by being wedged therebetween from outside the clamping portion, so that the optical fiber is movable between the clamping elements; first and second insertion member operating portions, respectively separately connected to proximal ends of the first and second insertion members, that individually extract the first and second distal ends of the first and second insertion members from between the clamping elements; and a stopper portion against which the optical connector is pressed when the first and second insertion members are extracted from between the clamping elements.

摘要： An optical fiber connecting tool for an optical connector which houses a ferule, a first optical fiber mounted in the ferule and extending from a back end of the ferule, and a second optical fiber abutted and connected to the first optical fiber. The optical connector includes a clamping portion, provided at a back portion of the ferule opposite to a distal end surface for abutment connection and having half split elements, for maintaining connection between the first optical fiber and the second optical fiber by clamping the first optical fiber and the second optical fiber in a space between the half split elements using elastic force of a spring. The optical fiber connecting tool includes an insertion member for maintaining a state in which the second optical fiber is insertable into and removable from the space between the half split elements by being wedged into the space from outside of the clamping portion so as to expand the space between the half split elements, and an insertion member operating portion, having a ring shape, for extracting the insertion member disposed between the half split elements of the clamping portion from the clamping portion.

摘要： A method of butting and connecting a first optical fiber and a second optical fiber in an optical connector comprises placing said optical connector that holds said first optical fiber in wherein an optical fiber connection tool; mounting said optical fiber holder on a holder mounting base of a front end bevel processing tool; processing a front end face of said second optical fiber such that said front end face of said second optical fiber is beveled relative to the surface perpendicular to the optical fiber axis direction; transferring said optical fiber holder to said holder support base; and moving said optical fiber holder toward said optical connector along said guide part, and butting and connecting the beveled front end face of said second optical fiber to the front end face of said first optical fiber such that their bevel directions are aligned.
