    摘要: A positioning control apparatus for a magnetic disk apparatus. Internal models and a trajectory generation section are constructed in a control program. Based on generated position trajectory and velocity trajectory and an internal model position and velocity, a model control section outputs a first operation signal Umf for a fixed sample time Tu and then outputs a second operation signal Ums for Tu. The model control section calculates Umf and Ums so as to cause a position Pm and a velocity Vm output by an internal model 2Tu seconds later to coincide with the generated position trajectory and velocity trajectory. When a detector has detected a voice coil saturation current for head movement, a signal obtained by subtracting a position feedback signal Uh from a detected voice coil current is used as an internal model input to thereby cause the model to track a control subject.

    摘要: A magnetic disk apparatus includes a following compensator for measuring a frequency characteristic of an under-control object to stabilize a vibration mode of the under-control object with phase condition and a resonance filter having a resonance point in the vicinity of a frequency at which positioning accuracy is to be enhanced, being coupled in parallel to the under-control object. Polarity of mode constant of the resonance filter is so determined as to stabilize a vibration mode brought about by the resonance filter on the basis of a relation between the frequency stabilized by a control system and the phase-180° crossover frequency. Positioning accuracy at a specific frequency can be enhanced without involving unstability in the control system even in a frequency range where sensitivity function of the control system is higher than 0 dB inclusive.

The head is configured to read servo data on a disk at sampling frequency. The moving mechanism is configured to move the head in proximity with a recording surface of the disk. The first peak filter has a fixed peak frequency and a variable gain, and is configured to be inserted into a servo loop. The servo loop is configured to position the head with position error signals between servo data read by the head and a target position. The adaptive peak filter has a variable peak frequency and a variable gain, and is configured to be inserted into the servo loop. The filter controller is configured to control the gain of the adaptive peak filter according to the gain of the first peak filter.

    摘要: According to the invention, there is provided a carriage arm assembly including a carriage arm having two arm members. The arm member is constructed in such a way that the width of its coil side end and the width of its suspension side end are narrower than that of its intermediate area. This construction widens a servo band width, improves positioning accuracy, and reduces positioning errors of a magnetic disk apparatus, so that recording density is improved and storage capacity is increased. Further, by coupling two arm members using a restriction member via a visco-elastic member, it is possible to achieve a high damping effect on various vibration modes including in-plane bending of the arms, and suppress vibration of the carriage so as to reduce the positioning errors.

    摘要: A track locus drawn on a disk discretely contains repeatable runout (RRO) components which are large in amplitude up to high-frequency band. In order to position a magnetic head along the track locus using filters good at suppressing RRO with resonance characteristics only at an integral multiple of a rotation frequency, many filters are required and thus it takes a long time for all the filters to go into a steady state. After learning until the filers go into a steady state, output values of the filters in a steady state are stored on a disk or in a memory. According to controlling the magnet head using these stored output values, the time required for the filters to go into a steady state becomes unnecessary.
