    摘要: In multi-directional antennas connected to a digital TV broadcast signal receiver, when a receiving channel is selected, if an antenna is set to the same direction as a previously stored direction, and signals cannot be received, the previously stored direction data is deleted, and if the best receiving direction is searched by the auto-scan, and a receivable direction does not match the previously stored receiving direction, the stored direction information is all deleted, the entire area scan is performed over all directions for all channels, and a new receiving direction for each channel is determined by the obtained best receiving direction. By doing this, when signals becomes unreceivable on a given channel while receiving them with a direction-adjusted smart antenna, meaningless time for adjusting directions is saved and the best reception condition is always obtained quickly by detecting the direction misalignment as soon as possible and updating the direction data on all other channels as well in the early stages.

    摘要: A digital/analog tuner device comprising a still image capture device stores, as the captured image, a video image of a video signal with VBI (Vertical Blanking Interval) portions of the video signal being removed, when storing a captured image, and also stores aspect ratio information of the captured image. For displaying on a television receiver the captured image with the VBI portions being removed, blank portions in accordance with the aspect ratio information are added to the captured image for output. This makes it possible to prevent the generation of e.g. noises due to the VBI portions contained in video signals, and prevent the deformation of captured images due to the loss of the aspect ratio information in capturing the images.

    摘要: In a multi-directional antenna that is connected to a digital TV broadcast signal receiver, an RF amplifier in which its transmission gains are controlled is installed on the front of a tuner, a BER (BIT ERROR RATE) threshold is set as a reception determination standard to assess received images, and while auto-scanning, the amplification transmission gain level of the RF amplifier is controlled while changing in a phased manner to measure the BER value, and upon obtaining a BER value that is lower than the BER threshold, remaining scan and controlling transmission gains are stopped, and the receiving direction is determined. Thereby, by deleting scans in all directions in the adjustment of receiving directions for all channels, improving the reception sensitivity in a weak electric field, and determining the receiving direction by measuring and assessing the BER value, meaningless time for the direction adjustment can be saved, and the best reception condition can always be obtained quickly.

    摘要: A digital television broadcast signal receiver connected to a multi-directional antenna carries out in advance automatic scanning for each channel to determine and store the strength of a signal received in each of multiple receiving directions of the antenna, a best receiving direction, and a maximum value of the received signal strengths, normalize the received signal strengths measured in the respective directions with respect to the maximum received signal strength, and produce and store an antenna direction level pattern including a bar graph that shows the received signal strengths in the respective directions with the normalized values used as the amplitude. In response to a command from a user, the receiver superimposes the level pattern on a video image being received for display on a display screen, so that a user can select a receiving direction on the screen. When image degradation takes place during signal reception by the antenna having been already adjusted in orientation, a user can manually reorient the antenna so as to quickly improve the receiving condition without the need for additional time-consuming automatic scanning for adjustment of the orientation of the antenna.

    摘要: A television signal receiver comprises a tuner, a decoder, a first storage medium that stores a frame of video signals extracted by the decoder as a captured image, a second storage medium that stores sound data representing a variety of shutter sounds to be generated for informing a user that a captured image has been stored in the first storage medium, and a sound generating circuit that, when a captured image is stored in the first storage medium, selects a shutter sound among the variety of shutter sounds represented by the sound data stored in the second storage medium and generates the selected shutter sound. Since the television signal receiver is configured to generate a shutter sound when a captured image is stored in the first storage medium, it can inform a user about storage of a captured image in the first storage medium without causing video images of a television program to be partly hidden from view. Further, since the television signal receiver is capable of generating the variety of shutter sounds, it can provide a user with various kinds of information by varying the shutter sound to be generated.
