The method (1600) at a protocol translation entity includes: receiving (S1601), from a Non-3GPP access point, an authentication request message of a first protocol type for a UE that includes an identity of the UE; translating (S1603) the authentication request message of the first protocol type to a corresponding authentication request message of a second protocol type; and transmitting (S1605), to an entity for authentication, the corresponding authentication request message of a second protocol type that includes the identity of the UE.

The method is performed by the access management entity and comprises selecting—based on WCD information and SM domain information—the second SM entity as an additional intermediate SM entity to control a user plane entity in the second domain for handling the data session in the second domain; requesting the second SM entity to act as the additional intermediate SM; and receiving a session response message.

摘要: A method to operate a Network Function, Repository Function, NRF, to manage NF profiles of Session Management Functions (SMFs) in a communication system is provided that is configured to communicate with other network functions of the communications system through a network interface. The NRF receives NF profiles for the SMFs, wherein at least some of the NF profiles each include both a SMF identifier and a service area information for a respective one of the SMFs. After receiving the NF profiles, the NRF stores the SMF identifiers and the service area information of the NF profiles in a repository in memory. The NRF may also receive a NF discovery request for discovering SMFs. After receiving the NF discovery request, the NRF may retrieve from the repository at least one of the NF profiles respectively for at least one SMF based on content of the NF discovery request. The NRF communicates a NF discovery response containing the SMF identifier and the service area information of the at least one SMF.

摘要: According to one aspect of the present disclosure, a method of paging policy differentiation in a 5G telecommunications network is provided. A User Plane Function (UPF) receives downlink data for a target User Equipment (UE), and provides a data notification to a Session Management Function (SMF), the data notification comprising a Quality of Service (QoS) indicator, which the SMF uses to determine QoS Information (QoSI) that is sent to an Access Management Function (AMF). The AMF determines whether a paging policy selection should be performed by the AMF or by a Radio Access Node (RAN) that serves the target UE: if by the AMF, the AMF selects a paging policy based on the QoSI and sends a paging message to the RAN, which pages the UE; if by the RAN, the AMF provides paging policy information to the RAN, which selects a paging policy and pages the UE accordingly.
