    摘要: A camera apparatus with a light-absorbing panel houses a camera facing downwards toward a two-way mirror angled to reflect a view of a user within an observations zone. The camera apparatus is placed on the top of an image display device to cover a computer window displayed on a portion of the image display device. The computer window is used to display a customer transmitted from another location to appear in the line of sight of the user looking through the two-way mirror angled to reflect this line of sight to the camera above. The captured image of the user is transmitted to the location of the customer to appear on an image display system with a perceived eye contact with the customer. A system is disclosed to deliver professional services with eye contact while consummating financial transactions through identification systems and an electronic signature pad.

    摘要: A telemedicine cart includes a body with casters mounted underneath, a monitor mounted to the body, and a power supply connection coupled to the monitor. The body includes a cabinet with a hinged door for access to the interior of the cabinet when opened. A screen on the monitor has a portrait orientation and is disposed above the cabinet, in a vertical plane perpendicular to the bottom of the cabinet. The screen is longer than it is wide. The screen is longer than a height of the cabinet beneath the screen. A video of a vertically upright person displayed on the screen, will appear to be at or near an average standing height of adults to a user in front of the screen, and will appear to be life-sized or near life-sized to the user.

    摘要: In a system and method for video communications, a user in an observation zone views a display image rendered on a vertically oriented screen through a two-way mirror in front of the screen. The two-way mirror is vertically angled at substantially 45 degrees, and reflects a part of a side wall in the observation zone. The backdrop for the light-emitting portion of the display image is provided by the reflection that is superimposed by the two-way mirror onto the non-light-emitting portion of the display image. The backdrop provides the light-emitting portion of the display image with a depth relationship that is observable when the user views the display image along a line of vision that extends straight through the two-way mirror to the screen behind the two-way mirror. A camera embedded in the side wall captures video of the user that is reflected by the two-way mirror from the observation zone back into the camera.

    摘要: A telepresence system enhances the perception of presence of a remote person involved in a video conference. The system preferably has a two-way mirror, which is between the observer and the display device, positioned at an angle to reflect a backdrop surface. The backdrop surface may or may not appear superimposed in a position behind the image of a person from the remote location. The system preferably minimizes image distortion via an optical path for the camera line of sight that is substantially longer than the physical distance between the user and the camera. The system may be asymmetrical, in that one camera is on axis with the user's line of sight while the other camera is off axis with the user's line of sight.
