    摘要: To provide a liquid crystal composition exhibiting a blue phase, which enables higher contrast, and a liquid crystal display device including the liquid crystal composition. The liquid crystal composition contains a chiral agent and liquid crystal containing a compound having three electron-withdrawing groups as end groups of a structure where a plurality of rings including at least one aromatic ring is linked to each other directly or with a linking group laid therebetween. The peak of the diffracted wavelength on the longest wavelength side in the reflectance spectrum of the liquid crystal composition is less than or equal to 450 nm, preferably less than or equal to 420 nm. Further, a liquid crystal display device can be provided using the liquid crystal composition.

    摘要: A fuel tank of a motorcycle is disposed in front of a rider's seat and above an engine mounted between a front wheel and a rear wheel. The fuel tank is formed such that an entire transverse section has a recessed shape viewed form the lower side thereof. The rear half of the fuel tank has a tapered shape toward rearward as viewed from the side. A lower opening of the fuel tank is closed by a bottom plate having a flat portion declining rearward, and a communication hole is formed so as to allow communication between the inside and outside of the fuel tank and insertion of a fuel pump and a fuel gauge, the communication hole being liquid-tightly closed by a lid member. A fuel gauge is fixed to the bottom plate near the front of the communication hole via a bracket, and the fuel pump provided with a fuel strainer attached to the rear end thereof is arranged behind the fuel gauge so as to extend along the longitudinal axis thereof. The fuel pump is mounted and supported on a stay extending from the lid member.

    摘要: A vehicle and drive unit therefor including a transversely disposed engine located in an engine compartment. The engine is of the dry sump lubrication type and has a lubricant reservoir that extends between the cylinders and an air inlet opening to the engine compartment. The cylinders are inclined to the rear from a vertical plane at an acute angle and the engine crankshaft drives an output shaft that rotates in a plane disposed at an acute angle to the vertical and forwardly of the cylinder axis and at an acute angle to the cylinder axis. The oil scavenge and pressure pumps are driven from this shaft as are the front wheel axles which lie on the opposite side of the plane containing the cylinder axis from the output shaft axis.

In all of the embodiments, the axles are disposed on one side of the engine and a change speed transmission is located on the other side of the engine. Vibration dampers are affixed to one or both ends of the crankshaft in some embodiments and an auxiliary shaft is driven from the transmission primary shaft for operating the camshafts of the engine.
