摘要: The present invention enables music performers and sound engineers to perform collaboratively over a data network such as the internet. Each musician creates musical signals which are processed at two points: Signals are processed at a central server to produce a mix, which mix is subsequently distributed to all participants; Signals are additionally processed at each musician's location whereby each musician's track is removed from the mix and replaced with a local, low-latency version of said musician's track. In this way, musicians play to a real-time mix that satisfies the strict requirements for low delay. Using records of each musician's tracks kept at the server, musicians or sound engineers can post-process the tracks to create one or more master mixes in which delays are eliminated entirely and tracks are synchronized.

摘要: Embodiments of a photonic link having low residual carrier, for use in transmitting information between an electronic signal source and an electronic signal receiver is provided. The photonic link comprises a transmitter, which uses angle modulation, and two threshold optical frequency discriminators that are biased to provide large even-order distortion, an optical signal receiver and at least one transmission fiber to transmit complementary modulated signals between the transmitter and the optical signal receiver, whereby the optical signal receiver reconstructs the complementary modulated signals into the electronic information for acceptance by the electronic signal receiver. Exemplary methods of transmitting information are also provided.

摘要: This invention provides a new architecture for a communication system between head-ends and end-users which expands bandwidth and reliability of the communication system. A mux-node receives communication signals from a head-end and forwards the received communication signals to one or more mini-fiber nodes. The connection to the head-end is via a small number of optical fibers and the connections to each of the mini-fiber nodes may be via one or more optical fibers that may provide full duplex communication. The head-end may communicate with the mux-node using digital or digital and analog signals. The mini-fiber nodes may combine the signals received from the head-end with loop-back signals used for local media access control prior to forwarding the signals to the end-users. Upstream data are received by the mini-fiber nodes and transmitted to the mux-node. The mux-node may route upstream communication signals received from the mini-fiber nodes as downstream signals to other mini-fiber nodes also connected to the mux-node without head-end interaction.
