Abstract:
An adhesive ostomy coupling comprises first and second coupling parts each having a respective orifice. The first coupling part includes an upstanding wall for entering the orifice of the second coupling part. The second coupling part includes an adhesive faceplate for adhering to the first coupling part outside the upstanding wall. The upstanding wall and the faceplate form an interference fit at a position corresponding to the inner periphery of the adhesive, to protect the adhesive from effluent attack. The upstanding wall has an undercut for interlocking with the adhesive faceplate of the second coupling part. The upstanding wall also acts as a guide to prevent mispositioning of the pouch when mounting the adhesive faceplate on the complementary flange.
Abstract:
An ostomy appliance comprises an ostomy pouch having front wall, a rear wall with a stomal aperture, and an adhesive body fitment secured or securable around the stomal aperture. At least a portion of the adhesive of the body fitment is moldable. The front wall of the pouch comprises an access aperture providing access through the pouch interior for molding the adhesive. The access aperture is closable by a closure panel attachable over said access aperture by a peelable/resealable adhesive.
Abstract:
A body interface device for a urine aspiration system comprises a skin contact pad with gel adhesive for adhering to the skin, and a flexible cover attached to the pad. The pad includes at least one aperture for admitting urine through the pad into the body interface device. The flexible cover has a bulged form projecting away from the gasket. The flexible cover defines a urine receiving chamber facing towards the gasket, and recess facing away from the chamber for receiving at least a portion of a non-contact liquid sensor. The recess and chamber have a wall portion in common that separates the recess and the chamber. A liquid acquisition material in the chamber receives and transports urine for rapid sensing by the non-contact sensor. An aspiration unit is responsive to the non-contact liquid sensor to apply aspiration suction to the body interface device, upon detection of urine.
Abstract:
An ostomy appliance comprises a pouch having first and second walls, with an inlet aperture in the first wall. A stoma seal is carried by the second wall, and is disposed generally in register with the inlet aperture for sealing against a stoma in use. An outer coupling element is coupled to the first wall and surrounds the inlet aperture. An inner coupling element for supporting the stoma seal, is coupled to the second wall and/or to the stoma seal. The outer coupling element surrounds a periphery of the inner coupling element. The stoma seal may be of an inflatable type or an insertable type. Manipulation tabs may be provided associated with the inner and outer coupling elements.
Abstract:
A controlled evacuation ostomy appliance comprises a pouch having a non-entrant stoma seal and a retainer for retaining the lower portion of the pouch in the folded-up condition. The appliance optionally includes a body fitment that may include a region of manually moldable adhesive for forming a custom fit at the stoma.

Abstract:
A body fitment for an ostomy appliance comprises an adhesive wafer including a body-facing side for adhesively contacting the user's body. The adhesive wafer includes a moldable region shapable by the user, and a hole therethrough for allowing the user to manually mold a stomal aperture in the moldable region. The body fitment is provided with the inner peripheral region of the adhesive bordering the hole being pre-shaped with a non-planar configuration, e.g. bent or curled away from the body-facing side of the adhesive, prior to be being molded by the user. The pre-shaped, non-planar, configuration is supported by a release device that initially protects the body-facing side of the adhesive but which is intended to be removed prior to use of the body fitment, to enable the adhesive then to be molded by a user.
Abstract:
The present invention is a drainable ostomy pouch having a closure system that includes a resealable press and seal material. The material facilitates closing and opening of the ostomy pouch outlet. A space between the comfort panel and the pouch material can accommodate the closure system or at least a portion of the closure system.
Abstract:
A body fitment for an ostomy appliance comprises an adhesive wafer including a moldable region shapable by the user. A removable release liner covering an external adhesive surface of the wafer is configured to permit molding of the moldable region by manually manipulating the adhesive through the release liner, and/or with removable segments. In an alternative form, an interior release liner is removable through the entrance aperture of the wafer, by pulling on a grip portion that protrudes through the entrance aperture. In an alternative form, an ostomy pouch includes a finger pocket in a front pouch wall, for permitting insertion of a finger tip for molding the moldable region of an adhesive wafer that is secured around a stomal aperture in a rear pouch wall.
