    摘要: In order to measure the magnetic saturation flux density of a sample material, a first and a second sample holder are symmetrically positioned on the same side of a cylindrical permanent magnet. Coils are placed around the sample holders and the cylindrical permanent magnet is rotated. The signals induced in the coils in the absence of a magnetic material in one of the sample holders are applied to an amplifier in such a manner as to provide a null input signal. When a sample is placed in one of the sample holders, the magnetic saturation flux density can be measured. The present device finds particular application to determining the concentration of a magnetic particles dispersed in a (coating) fluid. The fluid can flow through a sample holder for measurement. In addition, a reference fluid can flow through the second sample holder for better process control. The geometry of the sample holder carrying a fluid material is specified to increase the accuracy of the measurements.

    摘要: A large solid state sensor assembly is formed from a plurality of smaller solid state sensors which are positioned contiguously to each other. The large solid state sensor assembly is preferably a solid state X-ray assembly and includes at least a first solid state sensor having an X-ray detector region and a blind non-detector border region, and a second solid state sensor having an X-ray detector region and a blind non-detector border region. The second sensor is positioned adjacent to the first sensor with respective non-detector regions being contiguous. A third solid state sensor having an X-ray detector region, is positioned to overlie the first and second solid state sensors so that the X-ray detector region of the third sensor overlies the blind non-detector regions of the first and second sensors. Thus, a large continuous X-ray detector region formed of said first, second, and third sensor detector regions is provided. The three sensors have a plurality of solid state detectors, with the detectors of the third sensor being smaller in size then the detectors of first and second sensors.

    摘要: Magnetic recording and/or reproducing schemes and systems particularly for use for recording and/or reproducing information in data tracks of a magnetics-on-film (MOF) layer in the image area of a photographic filmstrip in a camera or in other photographic equipment. Recording of a photographic data set related to captured images is effected in n lengthwise extending, total interleaved tracks effected in the alternative by a single one or plural magnetic head array(s) of m magnetic recording heads arranged to extend across the filmstrip width and positioned in the camera alongside the photographic image frame gate. In one embodiment, the photographic data set is prepared in n/m data sub-sets, and a stepping mechanism is provided for stepping the magnetic head array between n/m positions to effect the recording of each data sub-set in the respective sub-set of m interleaved tracks such that the full data set is recorded in a single image frame area or in a single sub-set of m tracks extending for more than one image frame. In a further embodiment, n/m head arrays of m recording heads are fixedly mounted in the camera in a staggered fashion so that the n/m data sub-sets are recorded in the n/m sub-sets of m interleaved tracks. The n/m recording heads may be mounted on one side or on both sides of the photographic image frame gate.

    摘要: A composite read-while-write magnetic head assembly includes a substrate having first and second opposing planar surfaces. An inductive record head of the thin film type is situated on the first planar surface, and a playback head of the magnetoresistive (MR) type is located on the second planar surface, in alignment with the record head. With an MR playback head and a thin film record head, the alignment between the two heads is limited by the precision of a photolithographic process, which is very accurate relative to the width of even the most narrow record track. Furthermore, the substrate is selected to be of sufficient thickness to isolate the MR playback head from the effects of fields created by the inductive record head, thereby eliminating crosstalk between the two heads.

    摘要: A document processing device includes a controller and a sensor arrangement. The sensor arrangement illuminates a surface of documents. The gradient index lens array collects light reflected from the documents and transmits at least a portion of the collected reflected light onto a photodetector array. The photodetector array generates one or more electrical signals in response to a gradient index lens transmitting light thereon. The controller derives data including image data from the one or more electrical signals. The image data is reproducible as a visually readable image of the surface of the documents. The visually readable image has a resolution such that alphanumeric characters can be extracted from the visually readable image in response to the document remaining within a depth of field of the gradient index lens array while being transported via the transport mechanism. The depth of field is at least about 0.03 inches.
