    摘要: A thrust yoke is fixed into a second recessed portion of a base with adhesive. The second recessed portion has a first surface to be in contact with the bottom surface of the thrust yoke, and a second surface axially opposing the bottom surface of the thrust yoke with a gap therebetween. The thrust yoke has a bent portion at its radial end. The bent portion is bent downward. The thrust yoke also has a protruding portion extending downward from the bent portion. The protruding portion axially opposes the second surface of the second recessed portion of the base with a gap therebetween.

    摘要: When a sleeve of a fluid dynamic bearing is manufactured, its inner peripheral surface is formed by cutting. On the inner peripheral surface, first and second inclined surfaces are formed by a first cutting process such that a distance between the sleeve and a central axis is increased toward an upper end surface of the sleeve. Then, an upper bearing surface and a third inclined surface between the upper bearing surface and the first inclined surface are formed on the inner peripheral surface of the sleeve by a second cutting process of accuracy higher than that of the first cutting process. In the second cutting process, it is possible to form accurately in position a boundary between the upper bearing surface and the third inclined surface in contact with an upper end of an upper dynamic pressure groove provided on the upper bearing surface.

    摘要: A spindle motor includes a shaft arranged to extend in an axial direction, and a base portion arranged to define a portion of a housing, and including a through hole in which the shaft is inserted. A fixing region is defined between an inner circumferential portion of the base portion and a lower portion of the shaft. The fixing region includes a press-fitting region and an adhesion region defined on a lower side of the press-fitting region and in which a seal gap is defined between the inner circumferential portion of the base portion and the lower portion of the shaft. The seal gap is arranged to gradually decrease in radial width with increasing height. The seal gap is arranged to include an adhesive arranged therein over an entire circumference thereof.

    摘要: A base unit for use in a storage disk drive apparatus includes a base portion; a stator core including a plurality of teeth; U-phase, V-phase, and W-phase coils; U-phase, V-phase, and W-phase common wires; and a circuit board. The U-phase, V-phase, and W-phase coils are wound on the teeth and arranged to define a U phase, a V phase, and a W phase, respectively. The U-phase, V-phase, and W-phase common wires are arranged to define the U phase, the V phase, and the W phase, respectively. Each of the U-phase, V-phase, and W-phase common wires is arranged to pass through a separate one of through holes to be drawn out beyond a lower surface of the base portion and electrically connected to the circuit board. Each of the through holes is sealed with a sealant such that the base unit is airtight.
