    摘要: The present invention provides a system which shortens the scanning time with an ink jet head for forming a pattern of filter elements of a color filter, picture element pixels of an electroluminescence (EL) device, or the like. An apparatus for producing a color filter can include a plurality of filter elements arranged on a substrate. The apparatus can further include a plurality of heads each having a nozzle row having a plurality of nozzles arranged, an ink supply device for supplying a filter element material to the heads, a carriage supporting the heads arranged thereon, a main scanning driving device for moving the carriage by main scanning in the X direction, and a sub-scanning driving device for moving the carriage by sub-scanning in the Y direction. The carriage supports the plurality of heads each of which is inclined at an in-plane inclination angle θ.

    摘要: The present invention provides a transflective liquid crystal device in which color display can be made uniform over the display surface in both the reflective display mode and the transmissive display mode. The liquid crystal device can include a pair of substrates which sandwich liquid crystal, a light reflecting film formed on the substrate, and a color filter formed on the light reflecting film. The color filter can include a partitioning member, which divides the surface of the substrate into a plurality of sections, and subpixels which are individually formed in the sections. The light reflecting film is provided with openings formed at regions corresponding to the thickest parts of the subpixels, openings formed at regions corresponding to central parts of the section, openings which extend in longitudinal direction of the rectangular sections, or openings formed in the shape corresponding to the thickness distribution of the subpixels.

    摘要: The present invention provides a transflective liquid crystal device in which color display can be made uniform over the display surface in both the reflective display mode and the transmissive display mode. The liquid crystal device can include a pair of substrates which sandwich liquid crystal, a light reflecting film formed on the substrate, and a color filter formed on the light reflecting film. The color filter substrate can include a bank-like delimiting member having a predetermined height formed on a base member so as to delimit color-pixel-forming regions on a surface of the base member, color pixels formed in the color-pixel-forming regions by arranging liquid color pixel materials, and a protective layer formed on the surfaces of the color pixels by arranging a liquid protective layer material. The delimiting member can be composed of a resin having repellency to the color pixel material and the protective layer material. The surface of the delimiting member can be subjected to surface treatment to decrease the repellency to the liquid material constituting the protective layer.

    摘要: The invention provides a system and methods for manufacturing an optical member, such as a color filter, using a scanning ink-jet head, where all nozzles of the ink-jet head precisely scan formation regions of pixels. In accordance with the invention, the accuracy of discharge position of ink from each nozzle is increased, the utilization of the nozzle (printing efficiency) is heightened, variations in color from pixel to pixel are controlled, and optical characteristics of an optical member is thus made uniform in plan view. In the method for manufacturing a color filter, a plurality ink-jet heads 22, each head having a plurality of nozzles 27, performs a main scan and a sub scan. Further, in accordance with the invention, if W represent the spacing between two closest nozzles at the closest ends of the two adjacent ink-jet heads 22 with one nozzle in one head 22 and the other nozzle in the other head 22, and D represent a constant layout pitch D of the nozzles 27, then the following equation holds: W=mD (m is an integer of 2 or larger). Additionally, if P represent a sub scanning motion pitch of the head 22, then the following equation holds: P=nD (n is an integer of 1 or larger).

    摘要: A color filter substrate has a base, a first bank for partitioning off a plurality of display dots on the base, a reflective film partially provided on the base such that a reflective portion and a transmissive portion are formed in each of the display dots, a second bank provided between the reflective portion and the transmissive portion, and coloring elements provided in areas divided by the first bank and second bank. The coloring elements that are disposed in the reflective portion and the transmissive portion of one display dot have the same color but different light transmittance rates and thicknesses. With this invention, coloring elements and other elements of the color filter substrate can be set to have different attributes in the reflective portion and the transmissive portion.
