    摘要: A recording/reproduction device 10 receives content broadcast from a content provision device 11. The recording/reproduction device 10 encrypts the received content using a device key, to generate first encrypted content. The recording/reproduction device 10 decrypts the first encrypted content to obtain the content, performs an image conversion on the obtained content to generate converted content, and encrypts the converted content using a medium key to generate second encrypted content. The recording/reproduction device 10 writes the second encrypted content, the medium key, and the device key to a portable medium 14. When the portable medium 14 is inserted in a mobile information terminal 15, the mobile information terminal 15 decrypts the second encrypted content using the medium key to obtain the converted content, and reproduces the converted content.

A bitmap in SD_EPUB.MMG shows for each EPUBxxx.KEY file whether the EPUBxxx.KEY file has at least one Key&Rule Entry area not in use, or whether all the Key&Rule Entry areas are in use. Based on the bitmap in the read SD_EPUB.MMG file, the recording apparatus opens EPUB#u.KEY having an unused Key&Rule Entry area and writes data into the unused Key&Rule Entry area in the file. If all the Key&Rule Entry areas in EPUB#u.KEY become in use as a result of the writing of the data, the recording apparatus updates the bitmap in SD_EPUB.MMG.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for storing and retrieving data files from a storage medium are disclosed. A storage medium stores one or more data files and address information showing the path of each data file. The address information is characterized in that numerical values derived or converted from given parts of the path names are used as the address information, whereby a data configuration which occupies less memory space than storing the path names as character strings. A numerical value can be designated from the numerical values and a character string can be generated from the numerical value to retrieve a corresponding data file.

The method comprises the steps of encrypting the content key information associated with one of the domain key information using a chain encryption technique, extracting data at predetermined positions in the encrypted content key information, concatenating the pieces of data extracted at the predetermined positions in the encrypted content key information to obtain concatenated data, performing a hash calculation with respect to the concatenated data to obtain a hash value, storing check values corresponding to the data at the predetermined positions in plain text, in the target apparatus, and storing the hash value in the target apparatus.
