    摘要: An automatic focusing apparatus includes a focus detection unit for repeatedly calculating the amount of defocus corresponding to the difference between a surface of a subject image imaged by a taking optical system and a prospective image surface of this system, an image surface speed calculation unit for calculating the speed at which the subject image surface is moved with the movement of the subject based on the amounts of defocus calculated at different times, and a drive control unit for driving and controlling the taking optical system based on the amount of defocus and the subject image surface moving speed calculated. A time information calculation unit calculates time information indicating the time when the surface of the subject image imaged by the taking optical system driven and controlled by the drive control unit will coincide with the prospective image surface based on the amount of defocus and the image surface moving speed calculated, and a shutter release control unit starts, based on this time information, the operation of a shutter release mechanism by a timing such that exposure is effected when the subject image surface coincides with the prospective image surface.

The external device includes: a synchronization data creation unit that outputs synchronization data for synchronization of timing of processing related to photography; a packet creation unit that creates a communication packet including control information; and a packet output unit that outputs the communication packet to the exterior by wireless communication. The packet creation unit includes a packet reception unit that receives the communication packet; a detection unit that detects the synchronization data before all of the received communication packets received by the packet reception unit has been read in; and a signal output unit that outputs a synchronization signal used for establishing synchronization of the timing of the processing related to photography on the basis of detection by the detection unit of the synchronization data.

    摘要: This focus detection device uses electric charge accumulation type photoelectric conversion devices. The time period for the next episode of electric charge accumulation by these photoelectric conversion devices is calculated based upon the time period for the current episode of electric charge accumulation, so as to keep the maximum level of an electrical signal for focus detection output from the photoelectric conversion devices less than or equal to a previously determined target level. The accumulation of electric charge by the photoelectric conversion devices is then performed according to this calculated electric charge accumulation time period, and the resultant electrical signal for focus detection is output. A monitor photoelectric conversion device is provided for monitoring the electric charge accumulation state of the photoelectric conversion devices, and this monitor photoelectric conversion device outputs a monitor electrical signal correlated to the average amount of electric charge accumulation of the photoelectric conversion devices. If the electrical signal for focus detection output by the photoelectric conversion devices comes to exceed the maximum input level for its A/D conversion device, then the standard level for the monitor electrical signal is reduced, so as to ensure quick termination of the next episode of electric charge accumulation by the photoelectric conversion devices.
