摘要: An airbag for a head protecting airbag system is adapted to be folded up and accommodated along an upper interior edge of a vehicle and to be developed and inflated to cover an interior opening of the vehicle. The airbag comprises a flexible airbag body and a flexible belt portion. The airbag body includes an inflatable portion adapted to be inflated to cover the interior opening when the airbag is inflated. The inflatable portion includes a longitudinal rod portion adapted to be inflated substantially vertically into a column shape. The longitudinal rod portion is arranged on one end side of the front end side or the rear end side of the inflatable portion. The belt portion is joined at its proximal portion to the peripheral edge of the longitudinal rod portion and is fixed at its distal end portion on the vehicle. When the airbag body is inflated, the lower end side of the longitudinal rod portion may be turned on the upper end side of the longitudinal rod portion in the forward or backward direction away from the inflatable portion. Thus, a high tension is established on the lower edge of the airbag body.

摘要: A head protecting air bag apparatus includes a lid and an air bag. The lid is disposed at an upper edge side periphery of an opening at a vehicle's inner side in a vehicle body and at an upper portion of a pillar portion. The air bag is attached to the vehicle's inner side of the vehicle body, is housed at a vehicle's outer side position of the lid in a folded state, and pushes and opens the lid to cover the opening when unfolding and expansion is caused by inflow of gas for expansion. The air bag is folded so that a lower edge side approaches an upper edge side, and an attachment portion at the upper edge side is attached to the vehicle body so that the air bag is housed at the vehicle's outer side of the lid. A part of a lower end of the lid is disposed at a vehicle's outer side of an upper end of a pillar garnish covering a vehicle's inner side of the pillar portion. A part of the air bag at a position where the lower end of the lid is disposed at the vehicle's outer side of the upper end of the pillar garnish has a more intensified force to push and open the lid than another part. In the head protecting air bag apparatus of the invention, when the air bag is unfolded and expanded, the lower end of the lid disposed at the vehicle's outer side of the upper end of the pillar garnish easily gets over the upper end of the pillar garnish. Then the air bag is smoothly unfolded and expanded.

摘要: An air bag is stored in the upper fringe of the openings on the cabin-inside side, while being folded. The air bag includes a gas inflow part for flowing inflation gas into the air bag, and a main body that inflates when receiving the inflation gas. The main body includes front- and rear-seat inflation chambers, and a gas passage extending forwardly from the gas inflow part and allowing the inflation gas to flow from inflow ports opened in the upper parts of the front- and rear-seat inflation chambers to the front- and rear-seat inflation chambers per se. The inflow port of the rear-seat inflation chamber is opened in a direction substantially orthogonal to an axial direction of the gas passage. A front-side peripheral edge is disposed to be higher than a rear-side peripheral edge.

摘要: A head protecting air bag apparatus includes a lid and an air bag. 摘要: An air bag is stored along the peripheral edge of the upper fringe of an opening on the indoor side in a state that it is covered with a door of an air bag cover and folded. When receiving inflation gas, the air bag forcibly opens the door and develops and inflates downward so as to cover the opening. In a region of an inflating section to which gas for inflation flows, a plurality of thickness defining members, which couple the cabin-inside side wall with the cabin-outside side wall to make a thickness of the inflating section uniform, are arranged side by side in the front/rear direction, while extending in the vertical direction. The thickness defining member disposed near the unsmooth development part of the door is disposed such that the upper end thereof is located at a position lower than the upper end of the thickness defining member.

摘要: An occupant protection device is applied to a vehicle including a front seat and a rear seat, and includes a first protection device and a second protection device. The first protection device includes a first gas generator and a first side airbag, which is inflated and deployed between an occupant seated in the front seat and a side portion of the vehicle by gas generated by the first gas generator. The second protection device includes a second gas generator and a second side airbag, which is inflated and deployed between an occupant seated in the rear seat and a side portion of the vehicle by gas generated by the second gas generator. The thickness of the inflated second side airbag in the vehicle width direction is set greater than the thickness of the inflated first side airbag in the vehicle width direction.

摘要: A side airbag apparatus includes an inflator and an airbag. The airbag that is deployed and inflated in a space between a body side portion of a vehicle and an occupant seated on a front seat in a passenger compartment by the pressure of gas injected from the inflator. The apparatus also includes a pair of hook devices and tethers. The hook devices are located at the rear end in the airbag. Each tether extends in the fore-and-aft direction of the vehicle and has an end hooked to one of the hook devices and an end fixed to the front inner end of the airbag. The tethers suppress the expansion of the airbag in the fore-and-aft direction of the vehicle, thereby promoting the expansion of the airbag in the lateral direction of the vehicle. Further, the apparatus includes an occupant size detector for detecting the size of the occupant. When the size of the occupant detected by the occupant size detector is equal to or smaller than a reference size that is determined in advance, the hook devices release the tethers.

摘要: A first airbag apparatus of the present invention has an airbag module, which includes an airbag and an inflator, and a displacement mechanism, which displaces the airbag module. The displacement mechanism displaces the airbag module from an original position to a predetermined position when a collision of the vehicle is predicted and displaces the airbag module from the predetermined position to the original position when the predicted collision is avoided. A second airbag apparatus of the present invention has the airbag module and the displacement mechanism, which displaces a support member. The support member displaces the airbag from the original position to the predetermined position before the airbag is deployed. The deployed airbag is supported between the support body that is displaced to the predetermined position and an occupant.
