    摘要: A spin stabilized projectile unit includes a sub-caliber projectile having a cylindrical section connected to a conical tail section including an external circumferential holding groove. A propelling cage casing encloses the projectile. A propelling base includes a receptacle holding the projectile and connected with the projectile and the propelling cage casing. The receptacle includes inwardly projecting axial webs presenting an inner diameter of the receptacle in a region of the cylindrical section of the projectile which corresponds to the outer diameter of the cylindrical section. The inner diameter of the receptacle formed by the webs becomes increasingly larger than the respective outer diameter of the conical section beginning in the transition region between the cylindrical and conical sections to form an annular gap extending to a bottom region of the bottom of the receptacle. A segmented holding ring is disposed between the inner diameter of the receptacle and the outer diameter of the conical tail section and lies in the holding groove and against the inner diameter of the receptacle for holding the projectile in the receptacle of the propelling base.

    摘要: A sub-caliber, spin stabilized multi-purpose projectile (FAPDS) made of a liquid phase sintered heavy metal sintered material composed essentially of metallic tungsten powder with additives of cobalt and nickel. To attain the highest final ballistic performance in lightly armored air and ground targets (e.g. aircraft, helicopters, armored personnel carriers) the present invention provides that the tungsten percentage of the projectile body lies between 90 and 99.5 weight percent, the density of the sintered material lies between 17.5 and 19.2 g/cm.sup.3 and the ratio of cobalt to nickel in the binder phase lies between 1:0.5 and 1:2.3, preferably 1:1.5. The projectile body according to the preferred embodiment of the invention is made of one piece and includes in its front portion a cylindrical pin for fastening of a projectile tip made of heat treatable steel. While ensuring stability during loading and firing, the projectile exhibits a highly sensitive, brittle matrix which develops in the sintered material only after the appropriate thermal treatment so that the projectile body, upon impact on the target, completely disintegrates upon encountering the slightest resistance and develops an optimum fragmentation effect.

    摘要: A subcaliber projectile including a segmented discardable propelling cage sabot which encloses at least a portion of the projectile body and has a common form-locking zone for the transfer of acceleration forces from the propelling cage to the projectile body. The form-locking zone has mating annular grooves and counter grooves on the exterior surface of the projectile body and on the interior surface of the propelling cage, and is subdivided into several form-locking zone regions in which the annular grooves have a different groove spacing that is adapted to the locally occurring shear stresses. These measures enhance simplification of the manufacturing process and result in an improvement of the release of the propelling cage sabot from the projectile body and in an increase in the target impact velocity of the projectile body.

    摘要: In ammunition, preferably for machine cannons, including a subcaliber stabilized projectile equipped with a body of tracer material and a stabilizing element, the heat released during combustion of the tracer material is utilized to drastically change the strength of the material of an element used to fasten the stabilizing element to the projectile. By being able to set the time of combustion and of the change in the material, the stabilizing element changes its position with respect to the projectile. The system or ammunition in question becomes unstable and drops to the ground.

    摘要: A method of applying a metallic guide band to the body of a projectile having particularly thin walls comprises making fine particles plastically deformable by heating thereof, and spraying said heated particles at high speed onto a surface section of the projectile body until a desired layer thickness of the guide band is attained. A projectile body having a circumferential guide band is produced by the method of the invention. The thin-walled projectile body has a boundary layer region on its exterior which may be roughened and/or deoxidized. The boundary layer region is formed by an intermediate layer which may be composed of molybdenum, nickel aluminide or nickel oxide and itself has a roughened boundary layer region on its exterior. This results in a particularly intimate physical bond with the particles of alloy of the guide band. The alloy is preferably of a CuZn85/15 type and has a porosity of up to 5 volume percent.
