摘要: A die casting plunger tip includes a hollow outer portion and a hollow inner portion. The outer portion has a first closed end. The inner portion has a second partially closed end. The inner portion is disposed within the outer portion and the second partially closed end is adjacent the first closed end of the outer portion in an axial direction. A plurality of connectors connects the outer portion and the inner portion. A plenum is formed between the outer portion and the inner portion.

The powder is consolidated into a billet having a density of about 100 percent. The billet is extruded using an extrusion die shaped to produce the component.

摘要: High temperature heat treatable aluminum alloys that can be used at temperatures from about −420° F. (−251° C.) up to about 650° F. (343° C.) are described. The alloys are strengthened by dispersion of particles based on the L12 intermetallic compound Al3X. These alloys comprise aluminum; silicon; at least one of scandium, erbium, thulium, ytterbium, and lutetium; and at least one of gadolinium, yttrium, zirconium, titanium, hafnium, and niobium. Magnesium and copper are optional alloying elements.
