A working area is set up in proximity to the sensors and the position of an object within the working area is detected by the input device based on data provided by each sensor and transmitted, by said control unit, to said digital system. The position of an object outside said working area, if detected by said input device, is rejected by said control unit and is not transmitted to said digital system. The sensors can be ultrasonic sensors and the object can be a part of the body of a user. Use of a third sensor allows three-dimensional detection of the object.

    摘要: The method and system for measuring a fluid level in a container according to the present invention allow measuring fluid level in confined volumes where, for example, there is no sufficient space to locate the ultrasonic transducer, where the fluid level constantly changes, such as in a vehicle gas tank, where the properties of the fluid or geometry of the tank changes with the environmental conditions, or where a high precision is required. The method composes i) emitting an ultrasound beam from a source along an ultrasound beam path generally oriented towards the bottom of the container, ii) receiving ultrasound echo values indicative of changes of environment along the ultrasound beam path; and iii) using the echo values to determine distance from the source of the changes of environment along the ultrasound beam path; whereby, a fluid level in the container is determined by associating at least one of said echo values to a fluid interface. A waveguide in the form of a pipe may be used in defining the ultrasound beam path and reduced clutter. A fixed target along the ultrasound beam path allows continuous calibration of the system to cope for environment changes in the container and for changes of properties of the fluid. A measurement window can further be used to minimize false reading and to cope with environment changes.

    摘要: A presence detection system for level crossing or to detect a target at the intersection of any paths is described herein. The system comprises an ultrasound sensor array positioned at the intersection of the first and second paths for defining a detecting area thereon and for emitting a first trigger signal when the body is in the detecting area; and a controller coupled to the ultrasound sensor array for receiving the first trigger signal and for emitting an alarm signal indicative of the first trigger signal. The sensor array detects the presence of a target by creating acoustic virtual lines which form between emitter and receiver or transducer and reflectors and/or by deploying conical or parallel detecting beams and which can be used, for example to measure the distance between each sensor forming the array and the target. The sensor array can deploy beams or acoustic lines in several plans and therefore allow detecting penetration above the conventional railway crossing barriers. The system can eliminate false signals by measuring the target size and speed. The presence detection system also includes a junction control box for receiving unique trigger signals from the ultrasound sensors and for emitting an alarm signal to be displayed by a stop signal display or to be received by an onboard controller in a train.

    摘要: The adaptive system and method for ultrasound sensing comprises re-evaluating over time the detection threshold for predetermined sensing positions along the scanning direction to cope for the static target and environment changes at the sensing positions. The method includes comparing the measured echo value at each sensing position to a reference echo value corresponding to the same sensing position, and to iteratively determine a new reference value whenever the echo value is greater than the reference echo value and that the difference between the measured echo value and the reference echo value is lower than a detection assurance factor. The use of the adaptive ultrasound sensing system and method allows locating the sensor at different location without requiring a new calibration thereof, since the sensor learns the clutter dynamically and the detection thresholds are being built accordingly without being dependent on the environment in which the sensor is located.
