Abstract: A system for a vehicle, having a fuel cell system and a compressed air system for supplying compressed air to a pneumatic device is provided. The fuel cell system includes: a fuel cell having an anode side and a cathode side, an outlet conduit connected to an outlet end of the cathode side, an air inlet conduit connected to an inlet end of the cathode side for supply of air to the cathode side of the fuel cell. An air compressor is disposed in the air inlet conduit, an air filter receives air from an ambient environment. Their filter is arranged at an inlet of the air inlet conduit. The compressed air system includes an electrically operable air compressor connectable to the pneumatic device in fluid communication with the compressor. An air inlet of the compressor is connected to the outlet conduit at a selected position, whereby the compressor receives exhaust air from the cathode side of the at least one fuel cell.

Abstract: A safety park brake system of a vehicle is disclosed. The safety system comprises a pneumatic park brake, a park brake electronic unit, a controller, an air brake sub-system in air communication with the pneumatic park brake, and a compressor. The compressor is configured to provide pressurized air to the air brake sub-system through a discharge line arranged between the compressor and the air brake sub-system. The controller is configured to receive a park brake request, detect an error associated with a failure in the park brake electronic unit, and impede inflow of pressurized air into the air brake sub-system. The safety park-brake system is configured to control discharge of air from the air brake sub-system to thereby achieve a drop in air pressure. The pneumatic park brake is configured to automatically apply once the air pressure in the air brake sub-system drops below a predetermined threshold.

Abstract: A system for a vehicle, having a fuel cell system and a compressed air system for supplying compressed air to a pneumatic device. The fuel cell system includes at least one fuel cell having a cathode side, an air inlet conduit connected to an inlet end of the cathode side, an air compressor disposed in the air inlet conduit, an air filter arranged to receive air from an ambient environment. The air filter is arranged at an inlet of the air inlet conduit. A a fluid outlet conduit is connected between an outlet end of the cathode side and an inlet side of an expander, and an exhaust conduit is connected to an exhaust side of the expander. The compressed air system comprising: an electrically operable air compressor connectable to the pneumatic device. A controllable valve assembly fluidly connects an air inlet of the compressor to multiple fluid supply positions. The controllable valve assembly selectively directs air from the outlet conduit position, the air inlet conduit position and at least from one of the air inlet conduit position and the position to the compressed air system in response to an operating condition of the vehicle.
