Abstract: In one embodiment, a wearable cardioverter defibrillator (WCD) is described. The WCD includes a support structure worn by a patient. A processor is coupled to the support structure. The WCD also includes a discharge circuit coupled to an energy storage module, the discharge circuit configured to discharge the stored electrical charge through a body of the patient. The wearable cardioverter defibrillator also includes a user interface housing at least one sensor and responsive to changes in device orientation. The processor is configured to detect a motion at the user interface and determine when the motion is patient-activated. When the motion is patient-activated, the processor determines a direction of rotation. The processor determines an orientation of a display at the user interface based on the direction of rotation and orients the display at the user interface to appear upright to the patient.

Abstract: Embodiments of this disclosure are directed to a wearable cardioverter defibrillator (“WCD”) system design in which a WCD implements an alert prioritization scheme to provide the patient with feedback in an order that is less likely to cause confusion. Different conditions (e.g., device status, equipment condition, or physiologic condition) are prioritized based on an analysis of severity of the condition and timeliness of user action needed. The prioritization scheme defines what alert, if any, is presented to the user by the WCD system as a result of various conditions. Generally stated, an alert for the highest priority condition currently detected is presented to the user and maintained until that condition either changes or becomes surpassed in the prioritization scheme.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method to alert a user of a wearable cardioverter defibrillator (WCD) is described. The method includes detecting a condition requiring attention of the patient and issuing an alert to notify the patient of the condition. The method also includes receiving a first input from the patient to replay the audible portion of the alert and replaying the audible portion of the alert when the first input is received.

Abstract: In one example, a wearable vital sign monitor (WVSM) system comprises a support structure configured to be worn by a patient, a plurality of patient physiological sensors configured to be coupled to the patient when the patient is wearing the support structure, each patient physiological sensor configured to output a respective patient physiological signal, a memory, and, a processor communicatively coupled to the plurality of patient physiological sensors and configured to store in the memory measurements of patient physiological signals taken at selected times based on a categorization of the patient physiological signal.

Abstract: A method for managing alerts from a wearable cardioverter defibrillator (WCD) using a communication device is disclosed. The method includes receiving a plurality of alerts to notify a user and/or a patient of a plurality of conditions related to the patient from the WCD, transmitting a first input to cause the WCD to enter a silent mode to silence an alert of the plurality of alerts, and determining that the plurality of conditions have been resolved during the silent mode. The method further includes transmitting, in response to the determining, a second input from the communication device to replay a portion of the alert of the plurality of alerts and replaying, in response to the transmitting, the portion of the alert and an indication that at least one condition of the plurality of conditions have been resolved.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method of alerting a user of a WCD is described. The method includes receiving an alert from the WCD on a remote device associated with the user and in communication with the WCD and transcribing the alert into a message for the user. The method also includes personalizing the message for the user and delivering the message to the user via the remote device.

Abstract: In embodiments, a Wearable Cardioverter Defibrillator (WCD) system includes a support structure for the patient to wear, and components that the support structure maintains on the patient's body. The components include a defibrillator, associated electrodes, and so on. The defibrillator can operate in a WCD mode while the patient wears the support structure. The defibrillator can further operate in a different, AED mode, during which time the patient need not wear a portion of the support structure, or even the entire support structure. Sometimes the AED mode is a type of a fully automatic AED mode. Other times the AED mode is a type of a semi-automated AED mode, where an attendant is present to administer the shock; at such times, the patient may not even need to have electrodes attached. This way the patient is more comfortable for a longer time.

Abstract: Disclosed are a timeline-based navigation feature and a channel selection feature. The timeline-based navigation feature allows the user to visually identify significant events during an episode and quickly navigate the display of data to those significant events. Embodiments of such feature allow a user to quickly see that there is a shock delivered, for example, and click on that part of a timeline navigator to advance the detailed display of data to that point in the episode. The data channel selection feature enables selection of display channel(s) from among a set of available data channels. Embodiments of such feature enable a selection and/or deselection of various channels for display to minimize display of extraneous data and/or to select preferred channels of data for review.
