    Abstract: A transposed stranded conductor for dynamoelectric machines in which the transposition is incomplete in the slot portion of the conductor so that unbalanced strand voltages occur which balance the strand voltages occurring in the end portions of the conductor to minimize eddy current losses and circulating currents and to minimize the tendency to nonuniformity of current distribution. This result is accomplished by providing untransposed sections in the conductor separated by transposed sections, each of the end portions of the conductor outside the slot having a transposed section separating two untransposed sections. The untransposed sections are paired, with the strands in each pair of untransposed sections inverted in position with respect to each other.

    Abstract: A damper winding for the rotors of large turbine generators to shield the rotor surface and windings from non-synchronous fluxes, or to reduce the negative resistance of the generator. The damper winding consists of longitudinal bars of low resistance material placed on the surface of the rotor over each tooth, including teeth formed on the pole face portions. The bars have longitudinal recesses to fit over the teeth and engage in the slot on each side for mechanical support of the bar, and the bars are in electrical contact with each other throughout their length to form a continuous conducting surface.

    Abstract: A transposed stranded conductor for dynamoelectric machines having four stacks of strands transposed in the slot portion of the conductor in such a manner that each stack moves to different transverse positions in successive longitudinal sections of the bar such that the stacks are reversed in transverse position at opposite ends of the bar. Preferably, the strands are also transposed in a manner to cause inversion of the relative strand positions at opposite ends of the slot so that the conductor is fully transposed with inversion of strand position both transversely of the slot and depthwise of the slot.

    Abstract: A transposed stranded conductor bar for dynamoelectric machines in which the conductor is completely transposed in a theoretically perfect manner to cancel out all induced strand voltages and to eliminate any circulating currents between strands. This is done by transposing the strands through 540* in the slot portion of the conductor and through 180* in both end portions of the conductor but with the transposition in opposite senses in the two end portions so that at any axial position in one end portion the strands are completely inverted in relative position with respect to the strands in the corresponding axial position in the other end portion.
