摘要： For transmitting information representing the reading of a watthour meter a first disc is rotated in 32 steps per revolution by the meter. A second disc has 32 step positions and is rotated one step for each revolution of the first disc. Each disc has commutators and commutator brushes which convert each angular position of the disc into a distinctive binary signal which is transmitted to a suitable receiver or translator.

摘要： A tape recorder is provided with a tape cartridge unit wherein a payout or supply reel and a takeup reel are mounted side-by-side on parallel-spaced axes. When the cartridge unit is in its operating position, the reels are in a plane adjacent to, and parallel to, the front of the tape recorder. A pressure roller presses the tape against a capstan which is mounted separately from the cartridge unit. A single spring provides this pressure and also holds the cartridge unit releasably in operating position and further operates a brake to inhibit movement of the reels when the cartridge unit is removed from its operating position. The tape is directed from the pressure roller to the inner sides of the reels.

摘要： Pulses received over a plurality of channels are stored in storage devices. These storage devices are scanned rapidly for the purpose of detecting the presence of stored pulses. When a stored pulse is encountered, it is read out to generate an impulse at an output pulse device that is supplied to a receiver and the scan continuation is delayed for a time sufficient to assure operation of the receiver.

摘要： An outage in a quantity measured by a meter develops a signal in a data recorder included in a telemetry system to record data signals initiated by the meter. The data signals and time interval signals are recorded as pulses in separate data and time tracks in a recording medium. An outage pulse is recorded in the time track in an immediately adjacent relationship prior to the recording of an interval pulse. The outage pulse is positioned for detection in a translator upon a reverse direction of translation of the data and interval recorded pulses so as to indicate the time of the outage condition.

摘要： A pulse initiator for generating pulses at a rate proportional to the rate of rotation of a shaft includes a disc-shaped permanent magnet and a return plate axially displaced on the shaft for generating a magnetic field parallel to the shaft which alternates in polarity at any given point in the gap between the magnet and the return plate as the shaft rotates. A pair of magnetodiodes mounted in the air gap so that they are continuously exposed to magnetic fields of opposite polarity, alternately generate positive and negative output signals from a bridge circuit as the polarity of the magnetic field alternates. Two transistors operating in the switching mode gate either positive or negative half cycles of alternating current to a latching, mercury-wetted contact type relay depending upon the polarity of the output of the bridge circuit. A small AC bias current applied to the control circuits of the transistors assures positive operation with a moderate strength magnetic field.
