Fuel injection nozzle for internal combustion engines includes a nozzle element having a front cusp formed with a conical valve seat face. At least one injection hole is provided in the front cusp. The outer wall area of the front cusp which is disposed opposite to the valve seat face has a lower hardness than that of the inner wall area forming the valve seat face. When the injection hole extends from a pocket hole, preferably the outer wall area of the front cusp encompassing the picket hole has a lower hardness than that of the opposite disposed inner wall area. The intermediary center wall area preferably has a still lower hardness than the outer wall area. Thus, it is achieved that the front cusp of the nozzle element has a higher rigidity than in a known embodiment, without the valve seat face losing any hardness or that the protection of the outer wall area of the front cusp being unduly severly reduced against abrasive wear.

A device for exhaust gas recycling is proposed which controls the amount of recycled exhaust gas in an internal combustion engine equipped with an injection unit so that a certain air factor is attained. The device comprises a closing element for the exhaust gas return conduit, which latter terminates into the intake manifold, this closing element being suitably constituted by a throttle valve and being directly connected to the adjusting lever or control rod of the injection pump. If this connection is established via a resilient linkage between the adjusting lever and the exhaust gas return valve, then the thus-recycled amount of exhaust gas can be dimensioned so that a specific quantity of recycled exhaust gas is associated with a specific angular position of the adjusting lever.

An apparatus for controlling the composition of the operational mixture in internal combustion engines. Air quantity is controlled to correspond to an arbitrarily settable fuel quantity, by creating a set-point fuel quantity signal from an actual value air quantity signal, via a performance graph, the fuel signal taking the form of a correspondingly set metering cross section in a fuel supply line. A differential pressure valve, connected across the metering cross section, creates a hydraulic control pressure for actuating an air throttle valve in accordance with the deviation of the pressure drop across the metering cross section from a set-point value which is kept constant. During overrunning, the pressure drop becomes zero and the throttle valve is fully opened by hydraulic control pressure supplied through a pressure-actuated valve which opens when the pressure downstream of the metering cross section rises to a value indicating an overrunning condition.
