Abstract: Embodiments of a content selection system are disclosed, wherein the system is configured to obtain location information from a plurality of computing devices. The content selection system identifies a selection of computing devices that are within a set distance (e.g., within viewing and/or listening distance) from a networked, media playback device. The content selection system determines media content preferences of users associated with the selection of computing devices. The content selection system select a first media content for playback on the networked media player based at least partly on the media content preferences of the users.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for providing port matching features for storage devices and cables. In certain embodiments, a data storage device includes a non-volatile memory, a controller configured to process data storage requests, a plurality of ports associated with different protocols, wherein the plurality of ports have the same connector type, and each port includes a port matching feature indicative of a protocol associated with the port, and a plurality of cables associated with the different protocols, wherein the plurality of cables have the same connector type and are configured to connect to the plurality of ports, and each cable includes a port matching feature indicative of a protocol associated with the cable, wherein the port matching feature of the cable corresponds to the port matching feature of a port of the plurality of ports that is associated with the same protocol.

Abstract: In some embodiments a pairing system is configured to obtain first fingerprint data from a media playback device operating on a first network and second fingerprint data from a mobile device operation on the second network. The pairing system can, based on the fingerprint data, determine whether to pair the media playback device on the first network to the mobile device on the second network. The first and second fingerprint data may be generated during an interaction between the media playback device and the mobile device. In one embodiment, the pairing system creates a data conduit for connecting the media playback device on the first network to the mobile device on the second network.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for accessing data over a distributed data storage network. A network-attached storage device (NAS) includes a non-volatile memory module comprising a first portion of data storage for storing local user data associated with a host computing device and a second shared portion of data storage for storing third-party data. The NAS includes a controller configured to provide copies of a portion of the user data to one or more other NAS's for storage therein, receive third-party data from each of the one or more other NAS's, and store the received third-party data in the second portion of data storage. The NAS is configured to upload at least a portion of the user data to the host computing device and upload at least a portion of the third-party data to at least one of the one or more other NAS.
