    摘要: A toner composition and a xerographic process for making lithographic plates using the toner composition is provided. The toner composition can be prepared in the form of a dry powder, a polymeric limited coalescence composition, or an evaporative limited coalescence composition. The toner composition absorbs light in the frequency range of 300 to 450 nm and has a total transmission density of at least about 3 at a stack height of about 10 microns. Positive transparencies are produced with imaged areas formed from the toner composition using conventional photocomposing. The transparencies are then employed for contact exposing of positive-working lithographic plates with light, and the plates are then developed.

A method for making the particles is provided wherein a latex copolymer functions as a stabilizer controlling particle size of the core composition of the toner particles. The latex copolymer becomes the shell composition thereof. The particles are particularly useful in a process for transferring a toned image comprised of such particles from a photoconductor to a receiver.

    摘要: A method of preparing polymer particles having narrow size distribution in a suspension process employing a solid colloidal stabilizing agent. The solid colloidal stabilizer is a copolymer of about 25 to about 80% by weight, based on total monomer weight, of an addition polymerizable nonionic oleophilic monomer, about 5 to about 45%, by weight, of an addition polymerizable nonionic hydrophilic monomer, about 1 to about 50% of an addition polymerizable ionic monomer, and 0 to about 20 percent, by weight, of a crosslinking monomer having at least two addition polymerizable groups. Also disclosed are polymeric particles comprising a core polymer covered by a layer of the smaller copolymer stabilizer particles and electrostatographic toners comprising such polymeric particles.

    摘要: An element for the analysis or transport of liquid, especially aqueous liquids, contains a structure comprising a plurality of heat-stable, organo-polymeric particles non-swellable in and impermeable to the liquid, and an adhesive concentrated at particle surface areas contiguous to adjacent particles bonding the particles into a coherent, three-dimensional lattice that is non-swellable in the liquid. A substantial portion of the particle surface area in this lattice structure is therefore effectively free from adhesive. The lattice structure has interconnected void spaces among the particles representing a total void volume of about 25 to 80 percent to provide for transport of the liquid. The adhesive comprises an organic polymer different from that of the particles and insoluble in the liquid under analysis. The amount of adhesive in the structure is less than 10 weight percent of the particles.The particulate structure of these elements can contain interactive compositions useful for the analysis of various substances in liquids, especially high molecular weight proteinaceous substances in aqueous biological liquids. Multi-zone elements containing, in fluid contact, at least two zones having a particulate structure as described above or one such zone together with other functional zones are also disclosed.
