    摘要: A plastic container comprises a lower base-forming portion that includes a plurality of circumferentially-spaced, generally spherically-shaped segments and a plurality of intervening, circumferentially-spaced, totally convex, hollow foot-forming portions that extend radially from the central bottom portion and downwardly from the spherically-shaped segments to form a clearance for the central bottom portion. The clearance-forming portion of each foot-forming bottom portion includes a compound curved offset formed with opposing radii of curvature of a substantial fraction of an inch, the compound curved offset curving downwardly and outwardly about a center of curvature below the bottom-forming portion before curving about a center of curvature above the bottom-forming portion. Each bottom clearance-forming portion further includes a spherical surface curving downwardly and outwardly from the central bottom portion and member into the compound curved offset and a lowermost substantially planar portion extending downwardly and outwardly from the compound curved offset for formation of one of the supporting feel.

    摘要: A dosing bottle is made by injection molding a synthetic resin preform with a threaded neck finish portion and a body portion. The neck finish has an internal collar adjacent said lower end thereof. The preform is removed from the injection mold and inserted into the mold of a blow molding machine. The mold has a cavity with a body portion conforming to the desired configuration and dimensions for the body of the bottle and a neck portion closely conforming to the configuration and dimensioning of the neck portion of the preform. The preform is heated and inserted into the blow mold cavity with the neck finish portion of the preform being sealed from the body portion of the cavity. Air is introduced into the body portion of the preform to blow the body portion of the preform into conformity with the body cavity while precluding any distortion of the collar and of the neck finish.

    摘要: An apparatus for applying a uniform liquid coating to selected portions of an outer surface of an object having a convex horizontal cross section and a constant vertical profile is disclosed. An application pad having a surface contoured to approximate the constant vertical profile of the object acts as a liquid reservoir. The object is transported in a rolling contact with the application surface sufficient to ensure uniform application of the liquid to the surface of the object without substantial deformation of the application pad surface. A support for maintaining the application pad in an orientation such that rolling contact with the surface of the object is provided. Liquid is supplied to the application pad in an amount sufficient to wet the application pad surface and uniformly dispense liquid to the outer surface of the object.
