摘要： There is provided methods for increasing a number of media playback devices served by a communications base station. The communications base station may be for transmitting data using a broadcast video band frequency and both transmitting and receiving data using a mobile broadband frequency. The methods enable the communications base station to serve a greater number of media playback devices in the idle mode compared to a lesser number of media playback devices in the active mode. Both the broadcast video band frequency and the mobile broadband frequency may be a data network such as, for example, WiMAX, HSxPA, HSPA+, LTE and so forth.

摘要： There is provided an apparatus that is connectable wirelessly with a mobile phone. The apparatus includes a casing for encasing components of the apparatus. A display unit is mounted within the casing for the display of content to a user. There is a processor coupled with the display unit to control the content displayed in the display unit. There is also a transceiver coupled to the processor within the casing to enable the wireless connection between the apparatus and the mobile phone. A memory module is coupled to the processor, the memory module being for storage of data and applications. There may be a positioning module coupled to the processor, the positioning module being for provision of a location of the apparatus to the mobile phone. It is preferable that a set of controls is coupled to the processor for controlling the apparatus, and the set of controls may be controllable by the user either via touch or voice. It is advantageous that the apparatus is used for applications selected from the group consisting of: making and receiving telephone calls using a wide area connection of the mobile phone, composing and receiving messages using the wide area connection of the mobile phone, accessing the internet using the wide area connection of the mobile phone, and playing back media content on the apparatus.

摘要： A memory module with a playback mode for audio signals through a playback port, and having an input port for input of both analogue and data signals as well as power, the power being from a separate power source. The input port may be a USB or IEEE1394 port and may be used with a battery pack and cradle having a female socket for receiving therein the connector. The input port includes at least four terminals being: ground, power, and two differential data terminals; the differential data terminals carrying signals at frequencies in the range of from 1 to 480 MHz. The input port is also for passing power from the battery pack and cradle to the memory module.
