摘要: The disclosure generally describes carrier resins, and in particular, resins used for carrier coatings which include at least one ester functional group and at least one cyclic aliphatic group containing at least one nitrogen atom in the cyclic ring structure. Carriers having such resins in the coating exhibit high charge and excellent relative humidity (RH) sensitivity of charge to changing environmental conditions.

摘要: Emulsion aggregate toner compositions that use two different emulsion aggregation (EA) technologies. Namely, there is provided an emulsion aggregation toner that comprises a base resin composed of both styrene-acrylate and polyester resins. Such hybrid emulsion aggregation toner compositions are lower in cost but still maintain desirable developer properties like low minimum fusing temperature (MFT) and lower dielectric loss.

摘要: Melt emulsification may be employed to form elastomeric particulates in a narrow size range when nanoparticles are included as an emulsion stabilizer. Such processes may comprise combining a polyurethane polymer and nanoparticles with a carrier fluid at a heating temperature at or above a melting point or a softening temperature of the polyurethane polymer, applying sufficient shear to disperse the polyurethane polymer as liquefied droplets in the presence of the nanoparticles in the carrier fluid at the heating temperature, cooling the carrier fluid at least until elastomeric particulates in a solidified state form, and separating the elastomeric particulates from the carrier fluid. In the elastomeric particulates, the polyurethane polymer defines a core and an outer surface of the elastomeric particulates and the nanoparticles are associated with the outer surface. The elastomeric particulates may have a D50 of about 1 μm to about 1,000 μm.

摘要: A method of making thermoplastic polymer particles may include mixing in an extruder a mixture comprising a thermoplastic polymer and a carrier fluid that is immiscible with the thermoplastic polymer at a temperature greater than a melting point or softening temperature of the thermoplastic polymer and at a shear rate sufficiently high to disperse the thermoplastic polymer in the carrier fluid; cooling the mixture to below the melting point or softening temperature of the thermoplastic polymer to form solidified particles comprising thermoplastic polymer particles having a circularity of 0.90 or greater and that comprise the thermoplastic polymer; and separating the solidified particles from the carrier fluid.

摘要: A toner includes a polymeric resin, optionally a colorant, and a small molecule crystalline aromatic ether having a molecular weight less than 1,000 g/mol. The polymeric resin may be an amorphous resin and a mixture of the amorphous resin and the crystalline aromatic ether may be characterized by a reduction in glass transition temperature from that of the resin and by the lack of a melting point for the crystalline aromatic ether as determined by differential scanning calorimetry, the enthalpy of fusion for the crystalline aromatic ether in the mixture being measured to be less than 10% of the enthalpy of fusion of the crystalline aromatic ether in pure form. Furthermore, the toner may be configured to have a crease fix minimum fusing temperature (MFT) less than or equal to the crease fix MFT of a benchmark ultra-low-melt emulsion aggregation toner. Suitable crystalline aromatic ethers may include benzyl 2-naphthyl ether.
